Like we have warned you a day ago, Sony did indeed bundle a new PS Vita system software (ps vita 3.55) with their new flagship Playstation 4 version 3.00.

The Playstation Vita firmware 3.55 is now available to download and happens to be mandatory for accessing the Playstation Online services.

But what does the Firmware 3.55 patch in terms of hacking? Well…

Excuse my usage of this clickbait-like title & introduction, but I wanted to make sure that everyone reads the whole article, since it is quite important.

At first, PS Vita system software 3.55 does not offer anything new at all. One may describe it as the typical System stability has been improved… Update, which usually means security patches, if anything at all.

Next I want to tell you guys that the Fail-Mail flaw has been patched, as predicted. While this is of course a bad thing, it is not the end of the world.

PS Vita 3.55 – Half-patched?

Remember how we promised you Custom Bubbles for the firmware 3.52, pretty much all firmwares below 3.52, and maybe even for the next upcoming firmware (which turned out to be version 3.55)?

Well, we promised you something, and we can keep said promise, as usual. While system software ps vita 3.55 has indeed patched the Fail-Mail flaw, it only patched the ability to write to the internal PS Vita partitions.

If you have created a Custom Theme, a Custom Bubble or nearly anything at all that has to do with the Fail-Mail flaw of Major_Tom & Mr.gas, then we can pleasantly tell you that these things are still working on system software 3.55, as long as you have created & set up all these things prior to updating to version 3.55!

This means if you have set up a few Custom Themes & some Custom Bubbles on Version 3.52, but updated to 3.55 at a later date, those custom created things should still work.

If you want to do these things on a fresh PS Vita running the version 3.55 then we have to tell you that this is not possible anymore.

Otherwise it seems that the PS Vita system software 3.55 has patched a few PSP usermode exploits, but that shouldn’t matter anymore, as long as people created their Bubbles prior to ps vita 3.55.
