Tubehax/Ironhax: 3DS Homebrew Launcher fix by Smealum
A couple days ago, Smealum announced Tubehax for the 3DS: an exploit that allows all 3DS owners to run homebrews on their favorite console, up to the latest firmware (3DS firmware 9.9). Some people apparently had troubles running specific homebrews, and Smealum released a patch to address some of the issues.
What is Tubehax?
Tubehax is an exploit on the 3DS that triggers through a network request in the Youtube app. All people need to run the exploit is the free Youtube app from the Nintendo eShop. Tubehax was released alongside IronHax, an exploit that triggers in the game Ironfall (the Ironfall game has since then been removed from the Nintendo eShop)
This brings the number of exploits to run Smealum’s Homebrew launcher to 3, the first one (Ninjhax) being run through game Cubic Ninja.
A 4th exploit was announced recently, that will be triggering through Zelda Ocarina 3D.
Tubehax – Homebrew issues?
Of course, no release is ever perfect, and several people complained about non working homebrews. It is safe to assume Smealum is too busy at this point to answer each individual email he’s getting, but he is aware of (at least soome of) the issues.
He recently issued a new version of the homebrew launcher, that corrects at least problems running citrAGB, the GBA emulator.

I’m currently moving all of my games from psp to 3ds. Happy about the update.
Have to read deeper for gba, slow yet
Yeah, they are still pretty un-optimized.
Hopefully they get better soon though.
Nice, what emus run through this besides gba ?, is nes, snes, or any other platform supported ? does it support any Sega systems ?
SM0KE’s NES emulator is extremely good. Blargsnes, albeit with limited game-to-game compatibility, runs better than snes9x on the psp. Games like Ogre Battle run at full 60fps
I have Blargsnes and some games work perfectly fine and some just don’t, so far I have tried a few and:
Super Mario All Stars, Zelda a link to the past and Donkey Kong Country work flawlessly at 60fps.
Mario the legend of the 7 stars doesn’t work, just a black screen and Yoshi’s island freezes my N3DS entirely.
So really is a game-to-game compatibility.
Just go to 3dbrew and you’ll find some nice emulators.
Super FXchip and large roms are to blame for that bit.
As much as I like GBA brews, cant gpsp based emulators just die already?
Why should they?
I confirm that now it works, original 3DS LL + 9.9 FW, emulation is slow but that’s not Smealum’s problem
If someone made a N64 emulator on 3DS than i’d buy it pronto. Despite my current handheld being destined for Gamecube/Wii/PS2 Emulataion once the rejuvenate hacking scene is near over.
Yeah good luck with that, can I buy some of what you’re smoking?
Is there any way to replicate the DNS server and the redirection locally, to an android device as an AP, so we dont have to have an Wifi internet connection for the hack?
I would like to play my emus on the go…
I think many of us deserve an explanation as to why you haven’t posted updates on the recent info regarding the World of Pool exploit for 3.52. Because on hackinformer, they have removed the game from their list and also have greyed it out on their hacking guide. We deserve an answer to this. The longer you wait, the more money people are going to waste on this potential non exploit. This will indefinitely make you a fraud and a liar to this community.
Shut Up
They never said anything was set in stone, stop complaining. You always pay for the game, the VBL is a bonus.
Can confirm TubeHax/IronHax does work on Gateway EmuNAND.
N3DS XL (Eur) 9.2 EmuNAND
Granted that ever since I was able to finally get this up and running, there have been some issues with Starting up Gateway and starting up IronHax.
Hey can you help me please? I realized that the US homebrew doesn’t work for the Europe one when I picked the version so now I can’t even change it and the system resets whenever I try to, how do I fix this? Is there even a homebrew for Europe one anywhere?
Just wish there were more Homebrew and Emulators. Seems like no one is interested in the Vita and 3DS/N3DS
with the tubehax, can you use the cia installer to install savedatafiler.cia?
TubeHax is even easier to uninstall. You only have to revert the DNS changes in your system’s Internet Settings, that’s it. Nothing is installed onto your device by using TubeHax.
