PS4 error CE-37704-1: The newest feature of Firmwares 2.55+
The latest mandatory Playstation 4 system software, version 2.55, has introduced a nasty bug, which did not exist prior to firmware 2.55. But what exactly is error CE-37704-1?
If you take a look at the following screenshot, you will notice that the PS4 requires additional space to download & install some software.
The funny part about this is, that the Playstation 4 still has enough space available, it just happens to be less than 50 GB. The most recent, but optional, Playstation 4 firmware did not fix this massive flaw, and Sony has yet to patch this oversight.
Something that can be considered ironic is, that the good old Playstation Portable had a similar problem, back in the days of PSP system software 5.00, 5.01 & 5.02.
It is expected that Sony is going to fix this CE-37704-1 flaw in an upcoming Playstation 4 system software 2.60, which will most likely be mandatory. Our good friend the PS4UpdateBot is going to tell us when said new firmware will be available.

Doesnt the ps4 always ask for at least double the amount of data that you want to install? I had to clean my stuff to download a 40gb game cause it asked for much,much more.
That’s a technical limitation. When the PS4 downloads a game it downloads the complete package e.g. 35Gb, installs the game (probably about 40Gb after expansion) then deletes the original package meaning you’ll need ~80Gb of space to install a 40Gb game. If you’re unlucky you’ll have to repeat the process with an update patch which can cause all manner of chaos when you’re down on space and the developers require you to replace core files rather than amend their contents.
I don’t have this problem luckily but it sucks for those who do.
