PS4 Firmware 2.57 is out, you won’t believe the insane list of new features it has to offer!
Beware the system stability!
PS4 Firmware 2.57 is out, but it is apparently an optional update at this point (meaning you can still access the PSN and online features from the previous firmware, 2.55). At the time of this writing, it is likely your console won’t mention the update to you, but you can access it by going to Settings > System Software Update on your PS4.
Here is the crazy list of new features coming with this update:
- System software stability during use of some features has been improved.
I’d say the game now is to figure out what critical security issue this actually patches 🙂

Good ole Sony with another useless update.
How do you know its useless? Since its not a mandatory update then maybe it fixes a few small bugs thats happened to a few ppl
Take my word for it. The only reason Sony is releasing updates at this point is only to halt any potential of hacking or reverse engineer of the console. If it was an update that realy fixed ppl or any game or app it would had said it at least on the site or in the description of the update. The “software stability patches” are a way Sony saying “moar security and DRM goodies for us”.
Not really, it could be a real stability update,after they found bugs introduced in new features of last firmware update, unless you somehow get your hand on Sony’s internal list. More DRM goodies? bwahahaha.. DRM is not something you add in later date.
After the fiasco with FarCry 4 on XBONE ? Sorry but I prefer to take a grain of salt on how much a company give two s***ts about keeping DRM and unholy security measures to a minimum without telling anyone. If you don’t believe they can do that, better read every term of services on every update, you most certenly find something there. Also this is called “terms may change without notice” on the next possible update and the company just tells you “if you don’t agree, you won’t get anything” since they strongarm you to agree with their term via the games you buy and force you to update.

Web browsers (chrome, firefox, etc) always do this “stability” update every few weeks and no one complaining.

A web browser is different and actually Mozilla IS fixing something and they tell you what. Sony updates ones a lifetime and they only patch potential jailbreak holes and they break 10 other things. PS Vita for example, FW 3.52 ONLY blocked the PSM Dev kits from running. How I know that ? I still have the same annoying WiFi connection problem with Skype or WRC3 even if both got updated and on different routers. If you want to go even more *** to the walls they released an update for PSP after 4 YEARS of the last one ! Oh and do you want to know what it said on the description ? Take a quess ….
That’s because web browser security updates protect regular users from malware. Nobody is writing malware for consoles though, so it only blocks people who want to do neat stuff with their console.

This is an update for Friends icon that was not showing correct number of friends online and was throwing errors, and when you cold boot PS4 you get little discover message saying “You can easly access your prefered power options.” and now it won’t pop up again and again.
They should have called it playstation for useless updates. Zing.

Wololo, I clicked on the link to this article believing that I was going to learn some interesting information about some new features coming to the playstation 4 and it turns out that I only wasted a few minutes of my life that I will never get back. I’m very disappointed in you as a blogger because I expect a certain level of legitimacy in the least from you. I was fooled by the title of this article and now I know not to come back to this website because you like to deceive people.
It is a running joke on this site, we like to mock the PS4/PS Vita firmware updates because most of them don’t bring any content. Sorry if you felt the title of the article was misleading, it was meant as a joke
