New 3DS firmware 9.9.0-26 is live
Nintendo just pushed another firmware update to 3DS/3DS XL/2DS/New 3DS/New 3DS XL. It is another stability update and it breaks some flashcart usage as expected.
Official changelog for 9.9.0-26 firmware is “Further improvements to overall system stability, system security, and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience” just like the previous 9.8.0 and 9.7.0 firmwares. Last firmware that actually included something other than stability update and exploit patching was 9.6.0.
As we covered the not-so-long official feature list of 9.9.0-26 firmware, let’s take a look at what it really patched. SKY3DS flashcart and its various clones still work at 9.9 firmware. Gateway flashcart and various CFWs are blocked since 9.2 firmware, but if you are using EmuNAND, you can update your EmuNAND to the recent 9.9.0-26 firmware on 3DS/3DS XL/2DS and 9.5 on New 3DS/New 3DS XL. If you have a gateway, unfortunately updating your EmuNAND to 9.9.0-26U(North American Region) will break the multi-rom menu. European Region (9.9.0-26E) and Japanese Region (9.9.0-26J) don’t have this problem.
9.2 is still the latest safe firmware for all 3DS models for homebrew and CFW but soon to be released ninjhax 2.0 by smealum will let us have homebrew even in latest 9.9 firmware. Stay tuned.

Latest GW software restores EmuNAND compatibility for classic 3DS.
CFW’s are making a lot of head way. Looking forward to some new and updated releases!
Awesome, glad I kept my copy of Cubic Ninja now.
Same here, I’ve been contemplating on selling it for a while now.
Gateway has just pushed an update which solves the multi rom menu problem in 9.9 emuNAND.
My 3ds is 9.5.0-22.
This is great news for us people who love to steal and pirate games. Long live custom firmware!
This is silly the updates again cost money that could be used for other important nintendo matters dicks!
The only reason that the Gateway Multi-Rom Menu doesn’t work in the USA version is that only the USA received a Home Menu update. All other region did not. I wonder what was patched in the Internet Browser?
