Confusion around the PSM Dev for Unity Rejuvenate announcement
Update: It seems TomTomdu80 and Mr.Gas have ways to solve the issue of installing PSM Dev for Unity on firmwares 3.20 and above (including 3.51). Scroll down for details, and stay tuned for more!
Yesterday, YifanLu announced that the PSM Unity Dev Assistant is also vulnerable to the Rejuvenate hack. The PSM Unity Dev Assistant is a separate app from the PSM Dev assistant. The PSM Dev Assistant is the one people had been advised to download initially for the rejuvenate hack.
Additionally, the PSM Unity app is more promising than the PSM Dev app, because it does not require a usb connection (the connection can happen over wifi), which means it could be compatible with the PS TV. To make things even better, that app apparently does not have any DRM, meaning it could be installed without a PSM Developer license (reminder: the PSM Developer license is *not* the same thing as the publisher’s license).
The problem is, that PSM Unity Dev assistant is gone from the PSN store. I have asked around, and I am not getting a clear answer to the simple question: “can people on firmware 3.51 Download and install the PSM Unity Dev assistant today?”.
I opened a thread on the /talk forums to gather answers to this question. you can check it here. For now, my understanding is that it is not possible for people on 3.51 to get this app now. If you have it installed on your PS Vita or PSTV, good for you, you’ll probably be able to enjoy some of the scene’s offerings in the weeks to come. If not, stay tuned while people look for a solution (and you should look for one too! Just because the situation isn’t clear doesn’t mean solutions don’t exist.)
Bottom line is, if you know how to download and install the PSM Unity app today on a 3.51 Vita, we have thousands of users here who would love you to share your steps 🙂
On a side note, I received a couple complaints from people, blaming me personally for the confusion that was generated around this release, and asking for apologies. I want to emphasize first that I did not drive this release, I am just reporting the news as we get them from the hackers. Secondly, it was discovered only yesterday by YifanLu that the PSM Unity Dev assistant was also vulnerable, and I posted about it within minutes of Yifan’s post. I assume that the discovery was triggered by the fact that Sony removed both apps from their store, implying that they both had a vulnerability. It’s not like hackers or myself knew before yesterday that the exploit was there as well.
We’re trying our best here to be as clear as possible on the steps to take to get access to the hacks. But at the end of the day, we’re getting the same information you’d get from the hackers themselves, their blogs and twitter accounts. If you feel the information we delivered was less clear than what people like Yifanlu have explained, then fire at will.
Update: tomTomDu80 announced on Twitter that him and Mr. Gas have solutions to this problem, and they will publish these solutions sometime soon. Stay tuned!
. @frtomtomdu80 The upcoming release will more likely allow you to do so.

For what it’s worth, I do not have the PSM Dev for Unity app installed on my PS Vita either. Just sayin’… it sounds like a safe course of action for the future is to download every single free app you can find on the psn store, just in case.
Are you looking for ways to install the PSM Dev for Unity? Did you find a way? Discuss in the comments below!

I had a feeling something like this was gonna happen. So glad I got both
Hey wololo, just ignore those crying babies blaming you for some confusion. It wasnt your fault in any shape or form – you were just reporting info as it became known 🙂 And continue to do so 😉
Some people just wont understand how these things works, they rather scream and kick about conspiracy theories than acknowledging the truth.
I’ll admit I too was a bit frustrated when I read that article, but you know what? It was my own fault for not installing PSM Unity at the same time as PSM Assistent(It doesnt help my ego that I actually thought about installing it either), I sure aint going to blame others for my own lack of foresight. The fault is mine, and mine only. Just like its each and their own faults for missing the ‘deadline’ for dev assistent(“bohoo it wasnt announced in time!!!111one”) or anything of the sort.
It sounds promising that there might be a way for us >3.20 users to still get Dev Unity though!
HA! I already have both Dev apps on my 2 model 1000 Vitas both on 3.51
Am I understanding this right?
There is another webkit exploit yet to be released, and people on 3.51 will be able to use that pkg installer to be able to get PSM Dev App for Unity? (Already have the PKGs, just waiting to see if there is a way. I still have regular PSM Dev App)
Ah yes, did some reading around now and I understand. Thank you for the update as always Wololo.
I also have regular PSM Dev but the Unity one I never had the Unity version on my dl list.
Hoping a pkg installer gets made and we can just install the pkg for Unity if that is the better version.
I think overall goal for the exploit is CFW … not just hb.
please starting from 3.52 make a simple hack to play psp games on ps vita please
Christmas is only once a year.
Better be patient and really really nice.
There is no way to make the hack simple! You need money! Money Money Money Money!!!
people please don’t hate on me, but I don’t understand all this stuff about the vita and the rejuvenate hack, I am on firmware 3.51, I didn’t install anything about psm app for vita and for the one for unity, so is there anything I can do? Can I install the psm unity app?
Probably not, at least not yet. In order to download those apps, you would have had to make an account as a PSM developer. This registration is now closed down, and the trick to access it no longer works, I believe. If you don’t already have access to these apps, then you’re probably left out for now. However, the exploit in the works for installing the Unity app may help you. All you can do for now is wait for more information about that.
thank you very much for your clear and simple answer, I will stay tune this time regard this awesome work!
there is a way to get psm dev app on your vita if you has a ps3 but the unity app theres not a released way yet but their gonna release a way soon
if only we can invoke package installer on 3.51, things will be easier
y u no accept my comment? I was being all nice and cuddly and everything! QQ
Thanks a lot Wololo/Yifan/Tomtom for your outstanding work !
I’ve been developping on UNITY a RTS game for the vita during the past few months and the sudden disclosure of PSM was a big disappointment.
Thanks to your work, I will gladly offer my game to the wololo community.
Ultima Ratio bientôt sur PS Vita !
The link i gave pointing to wikipedia gives psm dev for unity upgrade pkg 1.05 (good for 3.18) and 1.06 (good for 3.51)
but it s lacking the link to the 1.00 pkg, and you can’t bypass it (either thru charles+qcma trick or with pkg installer). I just tried on fw3.18 with pkg installer. If you install 1.05 directly it fails. If you install the 1.00 it works but asks for update (of course), then if you install 1.05, it works (just asks for dev license checking over network -remember it stores it locally for 7 days so that may be the reason everyone seems to think dev license is not needed, but just wait 7 days and it will reask for it again from sony server)
Here is a ling to a page that gives the sony url to 1.00 pkg (get it fast!) : http://wololo.net/talk/viewtopic.php?p=389610
So far I am ready with 3.18 with both PSM Dev. Assistant and PSM Dev. For Unity.
I just installed the Unity app today via the Package Installer method.
I’m so glad i tried vita update blocker. I found the unity in my download list beside psm dev assistant. And yes, I successfully downloaded and installed in my vita. 🙂 🙂 🙂
People have no reason to get mad at Wololo for anything! He’s been bringing us the latest news for years and is a hero to the hacking community and all PSP/V owners in general. Been here since PSP 2k, Thanks for all the new over the years Wololo and I’ll continue to check this site daily and help whenever I can.
heh still on 3.18 here got psm dev 1.14 and unity 1.06 and my tnv and tn ps1 loader.some just dont know how the hacking scene works usually lower the fw the better. and when i seen that psm dev was exploitable said screw just in case i got unity. glad i did. its not wololos fault nor any of the hackers. if it wasnt for them this wouldnt even be happening.
I think the admin of this web site is genuinely working hard in favor of his site, because here every data is quality based
material.
