Minimur, WTH Happened This Week? E3 Special! PS Vita games, Anniversary Controllers & More!
Aside from the conferences that we covered, I’m here to let you know about everything you may have missed, like the return of the 20th-anniversary controller, along with the Vita games, and more, of course!
It seems that developer Devolver Digital is really doing Gods Work; in doing something that no other developer wants to do, and that is: Bring games to the Vita, but we, of course, can’t forget about World Of Final Fantasy, which featured in Sony’s and Square Enix’s conference!
Just this week, they announced 3 games coming to the vita with their help in porting other developers games, take a look below:
Ronin
Ronin is a stylish, turn-based action platformer following the exploits of a vengeful heroine determined to strike down five prominent figures of a powerful corporation.
Developed by Tomasz Wacławek — who also works full-time at Shadow Warrior 2 developer Flying Wild Hog — players must move with precision by meticulously planning out each silent step, soaring leap, and devastating swing of the blade.
Ronin will hit PS4 and PS Vita in late 2015
Crossing Souls
Crossing Souls is a vibrant, action-adventure game about a group of neighborhood buddies that set out on a quest to save their town and our world from government conspirators and shadowy forces.
Players will switch between five unassuming heroes on the fly to take advantage of each one’s unique attacks and abilities in a battle against local authorities, evil specters, and creatures of unknown origin. The brilliant colors and classic Saturday morning cartoon aesthetic are truly something special so keep an eye on developer Fourattic for more super rad updates as the game marches towards launch on PS4 and PS Vita!
Hatoful Boyfriend: Holiday Star
The loveable birds of Hatoful Boyfriend are back in the remastered, holiday-themed sequel Hatoful Boyfriend: Holiday Star! Travel to fantastically styled worlds, meet interesting new chickadees, and find romance in the elegantly designed winter wonderlands.
Dust the snow off your wings and take flight with familiar faces and new friends alike in extraordinary adventures hatched from the whimsical mind of the series creator Hato Moa and developer Mediatonic.
World Of Final Fantasy
This game looks pretty nice, in this game you can ‘befriend’ classic FF fiends, and have them help you out in battle, so to put it plainly:
Final Fantasy Pokemon
Which sounds pretty nifty, don’t you think?
Take a look at the trailer below we got during Sony’s E3 conference, and head to Kotaku for an interesting bit of info on it
And Finally to add, a Vita sizzle reel which hints at a few unannounced games, all of which being the newly released Telltale Games.
- Games of Thrones
- Tales from Borderlands
- Minecraft: Story Mode
Also on the telltale front, they announced a new game series of theirs that is based on Michonne, and tells a story not yet told in the comic books nor the television series, but fits into the universe and surrounding story, so theoretically it is a plausible addition to the time.
They announced that it would be a ‘mini-series’, now whether or not this means that there will only be 2/3 episodes or 5 as per usual but very short ones.
You won’t be able to buy this outright, you’ll need to own episode 1 for TWD: Season 2 at the very least, and if history repeats itself this episode will be free, so you can keep your hopes up.
Media wise, all we have to go on is the announcement picture, as you’ll see below.
To be perfectly honest, I’m no longer a supporter of Telltale games. I enjoyed Season One, but after playing The Wolf Among us on the PS3 – the amount of glitches in the game is unfathomable, out of sync audio, frame jitters, unable to interact with certain characters it took me out of the story and I was annoyed that I couldn’t get into it due to all these bugs taking me out of the experience,
Saying that, I tried my luck with season two because I wanted to know the end to clementines story, with the same problems, but I will no longer purchase a game of theirs.
It probably didn’t help them jumping between two series simultaneously, along with the fact that each episode for their respective series was 2 months apart.

Next up we have a new developer who has recently entered the episode choice/consequence model, DontNod Entertainment, these guys know how to make a game, and they’ve captivated me in their world. So I am excited to know that they’ve announced another new game with an entirely set in the 1800’s Victorian London, the game is called Vampyr.
Take a look at the announcement teaser trailer below:
Something we covered on the blog, Wololo did an extensive review of it which covered all bases, you can it read here. the PS4 finally has a media player which you can play music, watch videos and even stream from your PC. I’ve tested it out myself (only the streaming side) and it works pretty well and is a welcome addition to the PS4 system.
It’s a shame this wasn’t announced during the PS4 conference, it was instead announced in the Pre-show through an interview. Although it has been added to the front page without my saying – It would’ve been something else for them to announce in the show for the extra cheer from the crowd.

Another new announcement that was missed from the PS conference was that the 20th-anniversary themed controller will be making its way to the stores in September. But that’s not all. Along with this, they are also announcing a classic grey themed Playstation Gold headset. I’ve set up another Imgur album for you to see them all, take a look:

I thought it may be worth recapping a few things from the Sony conference, even if we did cover it on the blog, but I’m sure you’ve already heard about the heavy hitters. Here’s an 8-minute re-cap video Polygon made:
Links to trailers:
- The Last Guardian
- Final Fantasy 7 REMAKE
- Horizon: Zero Dawn
- Shenmue 3
- RIGS: Mechanised
- Asaassins Creed: Syndicate
- Dreams
- Uncharted 4: A Thiefs End
If you remember at last year’s E3 round-up, a certain portable featured, no, don’t be silly. It wasn’t the PS Vita.
I’m talking about the SteamBoy, the portable Steam Machine has now been re-named to Smach-Zero, for some reason.
The ‘final specs trailer’ was just released during the E3 time, and features the following:
- AMD embedded G-Series SoC “Steppe Eagle” with Jaguar-based CPU and GCN-based Radeon graphics
- 4 GB RAM memory
- 32GB internal memory and SD Card Slot
- USB OTG
- 5-inch Touch screen with 720p resolution
- Configurable tactile gamepads
- HDMI video output connection
- Wi-Fi conectivity
- Bluetooth connectivity
- 4G mobile network connectivity (PRO model only)
Oculus and Morpheus aren’t the only VR kids on the block, a new player has entered, and is known as StarVR, and is the first Virtual reality headset to sport a 210 degree feild of view, meaning you will have your full peripheral vision to make you feel even more immersed, not only that though, it features a 5k monitor in the headset itself. You read that corrctly, 5k.
I’d love to know what the specs are of the PC powering the StarVR headset, as the editor in the link even mentioned that he noticed some slowdowns. Take a look at the beast powering this thing:
