Minimur, WTH Happened This Week? Final Fantasy Type-0 XV, Street Fighter V Screens & Oculus Consumer Kit!
In the lead up to E3 there’s always a few juicy bits announced, we’ve got news on Xbox VR, Ratchet and Clank brand new gameplay (8 minutes) and a PS Now for UK update!
Unfortunately, the only game I could find this week is known as Action Henk, coming to PS4, PS3, and, of course, the Vita, and your goal is to ‘butt slide to victory’
The goal is to use physics and momentum to race through levels as fast as possible. These short levels require you to master all the subtle tricks that the physics-based platforming has to offer, including the famous butt-slide.
This is a new PS4 game that was announced, and thanks to the studio responsible for the ever so crazy Surgeon Simulator, comes a new game called ‘I am Bread’ where you are, bread, and you can move around and you need to get to your goal, it is also very hard to control, once again.
Wondering how the idea for this game came about? Well the developer was asked this question in the PS Blog comments, and here’s his reply:

Once again Playstation features at the front attention of every gamer in the world and more, to show off the next entry in their star franchise Uncharted, with Mr Drake front and centre.
Oddly enough however Neil Druckmann, the game director for Uncharted mentioned something rather worrying, yet maybe that it’s time for.

Earlier this week the new trailer and a hefty gameplay video went up for Ratchet and Clank. The game is based on the upcoming movie, which is based on the original PS2 game, and might I say that both entry’s are looking pretty snazzy. I’ve embedded the 8-minute gameplay demo below, as this is undoubtedly more interesting than the trailer. Take a look below:
Playstation Now is ‘now’ in the paid stages of the Beta, with its paid model and also subscription, the initial pricing once again has been a tad on the pricey side:
- £4.99 for two days or £9.99 for 30 days. – PS3 retail
- £2.99 for two days or £7.99 for 30 days. – PSN
Let’s be perfectly honest here, most of these we were to buy them are probably under £9.99 – maybe even £4.99
After the outcry of these being pricey, Sony had this to say:
During the paid private beta the titles will be priced between £2.99 and £9.99, final pricing for when PS Now fully launches has not been confirmed yet but we’ll continue to listen to gamer feedback on this subject.
PS Now is an evolving service and user feedback will be a key part of our service design decisions, including content and pricing.
Let’s hope they consider changing, as £5 to play a game for 2 days is unreal.

I’ve picked up The Wither 3 and had trouble tearing myself away to write this up. So I thought I’d get my Witcher fix in the article.
Prior to the latest patch, there was an exploit which you could take advantage of, killing some cows, collecting their pricey hide, meditating until they respawn and repeating. This makes for easy cash, right?
Well now anymore, as CD Projekt Red have implemented the ‘bovine defence initiative’ where an over levelled monster comes rushing at you, to stop you from making use of the exploit:

Well, as we know Konami are making all the right decisions recently, and another great decision for them to make is the addition of in-game microtransactions. Brilliant.
If we look at the Playstation store, it says on the product page ‘in-game purchases optional’ – This could obviously mean DLC, but as IGN mentioned in a preview, you can build and manage a mother base – and building on your base takes time. When an IGN previewer tried to access the ‘reduced time feature’ a prompt came back saying it is not available ‘in offline mode’ which in effect, could mean that you can purchase items to lower the building time of your base.
Here’s last year’s gameplay demo, when all was right in the Konami world:

Just before E3, a massive haul of Street Fighter 5 screens have been released. I’ve embedded all 22 pics in an album below so you can flick through easily, and I must say that I am really liking the new art style of the game. It’s more clay/cartoony than photorealistic, which means they can get away with exaggerating some things like Ken’s muscles and Chun-Li’s legs. (She should be re-named to Quadzilla)
These images could’ve been laid out better, but the last 4 are awesome portraits of Ken, Chun-Li and a couple others:

Just Wednesday gone there was an Oculus Rift live stream, announcing the final consumer model, a partnership with Xbox, and also their new controllers. Take a quick look below, because there was quite a bit of nice news announced.
One of the many things announced, wasn’t hardly surprising. Is that Microsoft have partnered with Oculus rift, and you have the ability to stream Xbox One games to the Oculus, Phil Spencer head of Xbox took to the stage to announce it on 13:51 timestamp, but not only that, is that there will be a bundled in Xbox One controller.
Oculus also announced new controllers for the device, which are still in development and are supposedly released late 2016 – not with the box at launch.
For the most part, from 20 minutes to 40, featured quick fire game announcements, after which they spoke about E3. But at 42:30 they introduce their new controllers, take a look below:

Youtube doesn’t often make its way into these blogs, but 2 weeks in a row it has done so. This time for the announcement of it’s new platform ‘Youtube Gaming’ – Seeming like a competitor to Twitch, where you have the ability to live stream, here’s what the announcement blog had to say:
Live streams bring the gaming community closer together, so we’ve put them front-and-center on the YouTube Gaming homepage. And in the coming weeks, we’ll launch an improved live experience that makes it simpler to broadcast your gameplay to YouTube. On top of existing features like high frame rate streaming at 60fps, DVR, and automatically converting your stream into a YouTube video, we’re redesigning our system so that you no longer need to schedule a live event ahead of time. We’re also creating single link you can share for all your streams.
The release date for Youtube Gaming in UK and US is the Summer this year, you can sign up to be notified when it’s live here:

You know what this means don’t you?
Another site to live stream on our PS4’s 🙂
I couldn’t find a relative video, so here’s the ever so entertaining Square Enix Presents E3 video. These have always been entertaining:

Spoiler
And now an update on Final Fantasy Type-0 & 15.
If you’ve played Type-0, you’ll notice the motion blur whenever moving a camera, it’s made me dizzy a few times, and ultimately made me stop playing.
There has been an update to reduce this dramatically. Here’s a comparison of before and after the new update:
And regarding Final Fantasy Xv demo, there’s been an update to it so you can do more. Including fighting the massive monster that is in the lake!
It supposedly takes 20 minutes even after all players are levelled to 99.

Typo: “I’ve picked up The Wither 3…”
Well aren’t you cool
“Oculus also announced new controllers for the device, which are still in development and are supposedly released late 2016 – not with the box at launch.”
Where’d you get that information from? As far as I know, Oculus touch is expected first half of 2016, not late 2016.
You’re correct! I mis-interpreted the information.
Oculus Rift is Q1 2016, but Oculus Touch is the first half of the year.
Apologies!
No 1st??? Guess I’m up!
THIRD!!!
“Final Fantasy Type-0 XV”
Am I missing something or are you missing something? I can’t find a single reference to this in the article.
I think the sqenix e3 video link at the very end.
There was a mistake when we edited the article before publishing it. I’ve corrected it and we added the FF Type-0 XV bit at the end of the article
When I heard they were making a new type of controller I thought they’d F it up but they look pretty damn good.
murr did you get tickets for the e3 weekend event?
FFT0 HD looks like it still has more motion blur and slower camera movement than the PSP version.
What on earth have they done to Chun Li?! Looks like ‘roids gone wrong.
Those MGS Microtransactions will put the PAIN in Phantom Pain 😀
What?! Microtransactions?! No! How could you do this to us, Snake?! Snake? SNAAAAAAAAAAKE!!!
