3DS update version 9.8.0-25 is live
3DS/New 3DS just got another firmware update. It is 9.8.0-25. Just like the previous 9.7.0-25 firmware update, it doesn’t bring anything new to the table. It is another stability update.
Official changelog for the new firmware says “Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience” just like the most of the latest firmware updates.
The last safe firmware for 3DS/New 3DS hacking is still 9.2. You can go up to 9.7 with EmuNAND on old 3DS and 9.5 with EmuNAND on New 3DS. You can use RxTools or Gateway for EmuNAND on old 3DS while Gateway is the only solution for EmuNAND on New 3DS. I wouldn’t advise updating your EmuNAND to 9.8 yet if you are on Gateway. It works but some parts are broken like the Select button menu.
The regionFOUR (regionfree game loader of smealum) has been updated to support the latest 9.8 firmware so you can continue to enjoy your cartridge games without restriction of region-lock even on latest firmware.
Sky3DS flashcart and its various clones are still working at 9.8.0-25 firmware.
Ok. Yesterday was Sony, todas nintendo, tomorrow Microsoft will release a useless update for Xbox 360

i havent updated yet waiting to see if the r4i gold 3ds card is working on the new firmware without me having to update the cards kernal unfortunately i didnt bringmy laptop to work so i have two more weeks to wait it out or if someone hae tested this card out to see if it still work a reply would be great i have the retro 3ds xl using r4i gold 3ds card

hey guys, do you recommend the sky3ds? i got a 9.3 3ds here and wanna try some jp games on it, i heard its possible to do it with the sky3ds. i know gateway is better but it doesnt work with my 3ds, since its at 9.3. thanks in advance!
Well, If you use RegionFOUR you can play japanese games on the sky3ds that’s the only way thus far.
There was a bug in 9.7.0, when go to Theme Shop and select Purchased Theme, it will show an error message and cannot obtain data.
So, any limited, special, not for sale theme like the Club Nintendo ones cannot be redownloaded due to this bug.
And, 9.8.0 fixed it.
See, it’s not USELESS.
At least Nintendo still care about their user, unlike Sony, Sony only “fix” homebrews.

CMA freeze problem is not fixed in 3.51, you could find people from gamefaqs (Western), gamer (Taiwan), 2ch & Sony’s community (Japan) talking about the bug after 3.50 is released.
Guess what’s Sony SCEJA (Japan)’s reply? “We tested it, it’s all normal, we can’t find the bug.”
That is good to hear. But you should agree with me most of these stability updates are useless.
so far as i know , r4i gold 3ds cads are still working, the same as my sky3ds, http://www.r4is.com/sky3ds-flashcart-playing-3ds-games-on-latest-3ds-xl3ds2ds-firmware-p-16.html its what i use, it bypassed the 9.8 update directly
Are you sure gateway works on old3ds version 9.8 ? it doesn’t works for me…i wait forever at the internet stage (after writing the url,and consequently i can’t play 3ds games..) i’ve been searching for it reecently and i’ve found an article saying that ”the gateway emuNAND is now available for the 9.8 version but that doesn’t mean that you can play 3ds games” and i’ve been waiting since then to get notified for a new updata (Please note down that i leave in Europe,greece if something’s different for that region)
Gateway exploit (installation) only works up to 9.2. Once installed on your 3ds, you can create emuNAND (copy of your sysNAND that you can modify and update) which works up to 9.8.
tl;dr – you can only use internet browser exploit if you’re running 9.2 or lower
I still don’t understand (don’t call me stupid I’m from another part of the world, Greece and English isn’t my ”Mother language”) I’m on version 9.8 and from what i was able to understand from what you wrote is that emuNAND is a copy of sysNAND but even if that’s so I think I’ve played on 9.2 Version (while my 3ds was still there) but now what ? Can I do something ? Is it posible for someone to play 3ds Games on Old3ds on 9.8 version or not? Sorry if i’m repeating stuff you said above though.And from what I got from above is that you can pay id you had created an emuNAND while on 9.2 but the point is I hadn’t touched other setting excpt for the instalation thingy and the Boot Gateway Mode
