LangSwapper v 1.4 released (PSVita/PSP)
Developer Omega2058 released LangSwapper 1.4 on our forums yesterday.
What is LangSwapper?
LangSwapper is a plugin that lets you play other regions’ games (especially JP imports) without having all your XMB settings suddenly switch to the game’s language. A very good example is, if you’re playing a fan-translated Japanese game (say, for example, Final Fantasy Type 0), your console will still treat it as a Japanese game, and show you Japanese settings/menus when you hit the home button.
This plugin’s concept is simple: it forces the console’s settings to your language of choice, instead of that of the game. And, frankly, this is how the PSP firmware should behave even in Official Firmware. Once again, the scene is here to fix firmware issues 😉
Although the plugin was initially designed for the PSP, it has been reported to work on the PS vita for TN-V users as well.
Omega2058 also released a version of this plugin that in addition to switching languages, can swap O and X buttons within the game (some games especially in JP will override your local preferences for that… heh, now that I think about it, Wagic also always has O as the action button…). Other plugins exist to do that, but it’s nice to have this functionality in one single place.
From Omega2058:
This plugin is aimed towards end users who enjoy playing games from another region (*cough* Japan *cough*) on the PSP. Well, mainly those who wish to keep the in-game HOME menu set to the language specified in the XMB Sytem Settings. Meaning, if you set your language to English, German, French, or anything else while playing a Japanese game (Fan translated or not), the in-game HOME menu will always be set to use that language.
This also patches the Savedata Utility to use the language selected in the XMB as well.
The binary and source code (Comments included) is located below along with a link to the repository. If you don’t see your CFW on the compatibility list below, please test it and post results so it can be improved. Also report any bugs, odd behavior or questions if you have any. Cheers. 🙂
By request, a version which also swaps X to Enter and O to Back will be attached below and this will be in effect for any revision released in the future (I’ll set up the repo for the button patching another time). There are two versions. The first is the original which patches the language. The second patches the language AND the button input.
Version 1.4 fixes a few bugs and improves compatibility with some CFW versions. Again, this has been reported to be compatible with TN-V

Up to version 1.6!¡!¡
1.6 is now out which patches the auto saving/loading feature as well. It also fixes the issue with the HOME menu not being translated after I broke it in 1.4. 🙂
lol but the game would still be japanese if its not translated
This is needed for games that are translated or games that are like Darius burst where its a jap release with English throughout entire game.
Anyone who has a jap to eng patched game or a game similar to Darius burst will want this
When will this damn hacking Vita????
Shaddup.
LangSwapper v.1.6 was released, not 1.4!
At the exact moment this article was written it was 1.4.
LangSwapper matured extremely quick. and it stopped at 1.6 as it is 100% complete and bug free.
Omega2058 was on fire with updates.
