Gateway 3.2.1 Ultra Public Beta is out
Here comes another update from Gateway Team. Main new features are Blue Card Gateway Installer support for New 3DS and the ability to boot sysNAND from SD cards with an installed emuNAND.
First of all, i want to say sorry for the late news. My laptop’s screen finally died after 6 years, so i had to buy a new one and it took some time. As i love to say, better late than never. Now back to the news.
This update includes features mainly aiding the last big 3.2 update which brought DS profile exploit to New 3DS. The updated Blue Card GW_INSTALLER.nds file works on any DS flashcart which supports your New 3DS like the Supercard DSTWO etc. If the only DS flashcart you own is Gateway’s blue card and you want to use it for DS profile exploit, you have to install a bluecardfix cia file to your sysNAND. It makes blue card compatible with your New 3DS. You might also know it as flashcardtimewarp which was released by 3DS devs some time ago.
Second big feature is booting sysNAND from SD card with an installed emuNAND. Before this update, there was no way to use Gateway on sysNAND if there was an emuNAND partition on your SD card. Now, you can hold B in the Gateway menu while choosing Gateway mode to boot into sysNAND even if you have an emuNAND partition on your SD card. Thanks to this feature, now you don’t have to unscrew the backplate of your New 3DS to take the emuNAND SD card out and put a new one in everytime you want to install stuff to sysNAND. After saying that, do not install untrusted cia files to your sysNAND as they can cause a brick.
Being a user of DS Profile exploit, i can say it is better than the Cubic Ninja exploit. I haven’t tried Zelda OoT exploit but i don’t think any exploit can beat DS Profile MSET exploit for speed. Though i would advise reading the needed steps for installing DS Profile exploit at least 2 times and checking the validity of the cia files to avoid bricks in the process.

First!!!!!!!!!!!!
Does this mean we can use the new 3dsxl to steal games now?
Newp. 😛
We’ve been able to try games to see if they’re worth the purchase for a while.
As for stealing, stores’ve almost always got those locked up, so being an employee of a store that sells used 3DS games is usually the easier method than attempting to smuggle one out in an N3DSXL.
I wouldn’t recommend it though, as there are likely to be cameras, and loosing a job over a 3DS game is a pretty poor trade.
Tried this on my 9.2 Aus N3DS XL and I can not load the Blue Card at all. Made sure to use a Blank (Non EmuNAND) MSD Card.
did you install the bluecardfix.cia file to your sysNAND? If not, your new 3ds won’t even recognize the blue card.
I haven’t used my 3ds in a long time… What is the latest firmware I can use with this gateway cards?
The latest real firmware you can use with Gateway is 9.2. It can currently load a copy (EmuNAND) of 9.7 on an original 3DS. It can only go up to 9.5 on a new 3DS (and doing that is hard since updating from Nintendo will get you 9.7, which won’t work.)
this worked for me after many failures on N3DS XL US via Cubix Ninja exploit.
To anyone who’s having issues, here’s what I did:
1) Copy the mset cia for your region to the INTERNAL microSD of your N3DS.
2) Get a spare microSD and format it.
3) Copy launcher.dat to the root of both the new microSD and the one you’re using in your N3DS.
4) Copy DevMenu.3ds to the GATEWAY microSD. Make sure it’s DevMenu and not BigBlueMenu. If it says Title Manager it won’t work!
5) Insert the new microSD into your N3DS internal card slot. (The one with nothing on it. just to be sure)
6) Boot your N3DS, wait for it to create the necessary files on your microSD, it will say creating home or whatever.
7) Start the gateway launcher by using Zelda or Cubic Ninja.
8) Select “Install NVRam” and let it finish.
9) Insert your Gateway into your N3DS, boot Gateway mode.
10) Press select, choose “devmenu.3ds” (Bigbluemenu didn’t work for me, might work for you, if you need a devmenu that worked for me; (SNIP, look for it on your own)
11)When in devmenu, press the right arrow on your 3DS once, and it will take you to a new menu, where you can choose (mset.”your region”)
12. Press A, and it will start to install
13. shut down your 3DS, and remove the New SD we used for this process. It has served it’s purpose and is no longer needed. Put in your Old 3DS SD with your EMUnand.
14. Start up your 3DS, you will be in sysnand. Go to system settings, and choose “Other settings > “Profile” > DS profile
15. If everything worked, you should be in EMUnand at this point!

This information is obsolete because on 3.2.1 Gateway added the ability to boot into SysNAND. If you do that, you don’t need to swap SDs.
Unfortunately, Gateway messed this release up by not providing proper instructions that told you when to go into SysNAND.
Can I use this exploit on an old 3ds running sysnand 9.7? I’m fairly sure that There’s no hack/exploit for this sysnand/system at the moment though, but it never hurts to ask 🙂
No only up to 9.2 sysNand.
I love being able to use the old DS Profile exploit on my N3DS. Just keep in mind that the old issue still remains that if you play a DS Game the exploit will be removed and will have to be reinstalled so always have a backup method to launch the DS Profile exploit installer.
Almost forgot that on an N3DS installing the 4.0 Settings app with remove the MicroSD Manager for networking with PC’s since it didn’t have that option. You will have to use FBI or another method to launch the MicroSD manager on sysNand.
not anymore. you can make the DS exploit stuck. http://t.co/GGxKC8CZOb
All the bluefix CIA file does is downgrade the DS Whitelist File to v0 to allow some of the older DS Flash Carts to work. You will have to use FBI or something similar to remove the original DS Whitelist in order to install the older one. At least that’s what I have to do and works like a charm. Doesn’t restore the ability for me to use my EZ-Flash Vi but there is another file that is blocking that which cannot be downgraded as it is different on the N3DS. Keep in mind that Nintendo has updated the Whitelist in 9.7 so if you want to use the DS Flash cart on emuNand be careful when updating.
So what’s the purpose of the GW_INSTALLER.nds? Does it setup the profile exploit again or something? I haven’t seen anything that seems to say what it does, and the old version didn’t seem to do anything that I could discover. Haven’t had time to get the new version set up yet though.
yes, it sets up the profile exploit. If somehow you lose the ds profile exploit you have to rerun the GW_INSTALLER.nds
it doesn’t work unless you install the correct region MSET cia file to your sysNAND though.
Thanks for the info. I just saw your other post with the link to the GBATemp article too, so I’ll be getting that setup when I get back from work.
Huzzah for DS mode and 3DS mode both being able to coexist on the N3DSXL now! 😀
Er… that should have said “thread” not “article”. Whoops.
WOOW Talk about wololo being against piracy eh? If your really against it you shouldn’t be posting news of updates to the piracy cart….
