3DS Firmware 9.6.0-24 out now
A new firmware update, 9.6.0-24 has been released for Nintendo 3DS. It brings some new features to the table and blocks some flashcart functionality as expected.
Let’s look at the official features:
A Home Menu Layout setting has been added to HOME Menu Settings. Users can save and load up to 8 layouts of the HOME Menu with different theme and software icon arrangements
That is a great feature. I like to customize my home menu screen and change between different layouts just with a few button presses. Good for you to listen to fans Nintendo.
Additional categories have been added under “View More” for easier navigation of the Theme Shop

amiibo Settings has been added to HOME Menu Setting for Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL, and Nintendo 2DS Systems Only
It is good that old 3ds will support amiibo too even at the cost of needing an additional hardware. I guess it will be announced pretty soon as the integration into 3ds firmware is done.
We also have some further stability thing in the official feature list which we all know what it means. When we are at it, let’s have a look at not-so-official features. Latest update blocks Gateway’s emuNAND. So for now, you can update your firmware up to 9.2 for your sysNAND and 9.5 for your emuNAND. This essentially blocks eshop access through emuNAND. The other major flashcart sky3ds (and the numerous clones of it) still works at firmware 9.6. Other public exploits are still patched.
As a reminder, if you want future exploits, homebrews, emulators, region-free and all other cool stuff mostly based on ninjhax, latest safe firmware is 9.2 for both old and new 3ds.

my 3Ds will arrive on 26, hope its 100% sure will support the new firmware, but if not i will not update it.

Hi Skye’s games don’t work gateway update emunand to 9.5 and then we have delete update to a game program so gateway plays all games so we don’t need to update but we won’t give file to block updates in games skids sucks hahah
