Gateway 3.1.1 Ultra Public Beta Released
Gateway has just pushed another update affecting New 3DS users. Most important feature of this update is you can now use Cubic Ninja along with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D as entry point.
As you might know, Gateway delivered New 3DS support last week. Main complaint of users was for Gateway to use such an expensive game as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D as entry point. Being able to use Cubic Ninja as alternative is good news. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is generally more expensive than Cubic Ninja and some versions of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D cartridge simply don’t work without workarounds. You can use Cubic Ninja just as you would use Ninjhax, only difference is you have to use the QR code in Gateway’s download section and put their Launcher.dat on your SD card
I will briefly explain the other bug fixes/features/workarounds in this update:
Some users were complaining about not seeing the GW prefix in the system version number in EmuNAND settings, this is fixed in this firmware. It is really crucial as it is the easiest way to know if you are in SysNAND or EmuNAND and avoid system updates if you are in SysNAND.
Head-tracking is problematic in New 3DS while using Gateway. It still hasn’t been fixed, but a workaround for it has been suggested. After you boot Gateway Mode, close the lid and reopen it. This should temporarily fix the issue. This is found by community members not by Gateway though.
Also Gateway Team says they are searching into the issue of compatibility problem with some versions of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D cartridge. There are already some workarounds from community members if you have a non-working cartridge.
Right now, Gateway is the only public way to have CSND sound in 3DS homebrew on a New 3DS via using .cia installing method. Though it will probably change once KARL3DS and OSKA, the two projects aiming to have kernel access are released.

Nice two entry points now! Can’t wait to see what comes out of KARL3DS and OSKA!

Really? You’re pirating a bunch of games and are complaining about paying $40 for Zelda? How more greedy can you get? This is why I don’t use my skills to make mod chips. Awesome, destroy the gaming market some more please, and don’t complain that games are too expensive/bad graphics/bad story (Pirating a game yield $0 to the developer, thus a lower budget for the next game).
You’re assuming that most games are actually worth the asking price, and that no one ever buys a game they’ve pirated.
I’m not assuming people aren’t buying games but I am seeing people complaining that they need to buy an “expensive” game and “it’s not worth it”. That single game (Plus gateway) enables them to play way more games that then initial investment! The point is, be grateful that a team enabled you to pirate games (Which I think its ok, as long as you do support developers). I’m not saying everyone doesn’t, but most don’t.
Zelda is not 40 where are you buying yours Lol it at least 80 besides i had cubic ninja for Smealums exploit so i got zelda on Ebay for almost 70 just for the cart since i love the game. Pirates are always going to exist especially when these companys don`t care what consumers are begging to give them money for things we would like to see. For instance GTA on PSVITA why does PSP get liberty city stories and. Vice city stories. Their should be a GTA 3 Vice city and San Andres trilogy for Vita. Their should be a resident Evil for the Vita. Mind you we kept hearing about the Resident Evil for PSP that we were promised for two years and that never happened. I hope the NX is a new system from Nintendo because the Vita will never be used for its full potential from $ony. I am using my 3ds more due to the huge library of good games.
I actually walked in to a store today near my house and bought it for $40 (New) but I do agree that developers need to listen more to customers. We also need to keep in mind that just because a game is developed/released in one console, it doesn’t mean that it can easily be made for the other as well (They plan all this based on a budget which includes but not limited to sales). PS: I also don’t agree on how Digital Games cost the same as the Retail Copy.
Who is complaining? Who are you talking about when you refer to “you”?
“You” refers to the greedy ones who are complaining. If you find any, thats who I refer to “You”. Search around and you will find lots of “them” 🙂
Thought I read that the newest firmware doesnt support gateway. No headtracking is a deal breaker, though.
if you are above 9.2, you can’t use Gateway.
Never could see how people have trouble even using the original 3ds in 3d mode…. I guess I’m special. I can see the 3d eye pictures in an instant and focus back and forth. The virtual boy never bothered me even on say a 5 hour session (aside from the cramping part of simply how the device was designed….. Anyone need a tester for their vr projects? Hardware must be provided :->
The Glassless 3D on the original 3DS gave me large headaches unless I hold the 3DS in a specific angle and keep my hands super still which I can’t as I have a neurological illness that prevents me from keeping my hands super still. I am hoping the head tracking features will let me play in 3D.
Head tracking mostly works, actually. Apparently all you have to do is close the lid (putting your 3ds to sleep), and then open it again.
Yup, it is a workaround. It is there on the article.
Why do they call all their releases since 2.0 a beta?
