Sony have abandoned the Last Guardian trademark
So I have a bit of bad news for those of you awaiting The Last Guardian – It seems Sony have abandoned the trademark.
So while this is a bit of a shocker, the trademark has only been abandoned in the US, so they haven’t completely squashed it into the ground – there are also a few reasons why they may do this, here’s a screenshot of the trademark filing, click on it for a link to the web page:
Before the current trademark was filed, they have actually let it run out prior to this, letting it run out mid-2012, and applying again 3 months later for it, take a look below:
So it could just be a couple of months before we see Sony go for the renewal of it, or maybe they’ve abandoned it and have decided to re-name it?
I highly doubt that they’ve given up on the game to be honest, the latest update from December time, where Famito Ueda, the main man of the game (the producer) said:
Talks with Sony Computer Entertainment on The Last Guardian have been ironed out, and we’re making progress under completely new conditions, we cannot confirm any timing because we are waiting for it to be in a state where we are happy that this is the game, we have a certain time frame in our mind, and the team is making great progress, but still not to the point that we can say that, here you go.
It’s no doubt that the game has more than likely been completely scrapped and re-designed multiple times, and then after realising the PS4 will be released, re-focusing their resources and programming on that console – No doubt they want it as technically impressive as possible.
On the article I retrieved this news from, I saw an interesting comment:

We say this every year, pal.

Playstation Trivia!
16.Deus Ex’s New York horizon was missing Twin Towers, This was explained by saying terrorists had destroyed them, a year before the real attack, the actual reason for the lack of towers was to save memory, the half without the towers
17. Metal Gear character designer Yoji Shinkawa’s first draft of Raiden was a freak who crawled around like Spider-Man and licked bird droppings……. Kojima said no.
18. TES IV: Oblivion’s plot was predicted by a fortune teller in TES III: Morrowind
19. If you don’t move for 5 minutes in Rage while holding the rocket launcher a display screen pops up and plays a video of Doom!
20. In Ape Escape, there are 4 monkeys named after South Park’s heroes: Kyle, Stan, Kenny and Cratman. No one knows why Cartman’s name is misspelled.

First……. person to read this blog! 🙂
You know, because I wrote it an’ all
bahahahahahahahahaha ;-;
Really…REALLY?
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!
Like I said above, they’ve let their trademark lapse previously, so they could just be doing the same! Either that, or they’re renaming the game, I wouldn’t be too worried about it in all honesty but it was worth notifying people about……
Spoiler: The Guardian dies in the end.
ALthough you’re joking, this prediction wouldn’t be surprising – we’re still not sure about what this game is about entirely too much, to be fair, but I wouldn’t be surprised.
:-” what is exacly Guardian
😀
This is a game that created loads of hype, think maybe Uncharted2 scale?
Anyway, it was has been delayed, or rather that it’s just been in development for more than 5 years now, and there was word that at one point there was only 1 person working on the game. That’s now how you make a game…..
:-” its unblivible . you are not joking right !
enough psn and playstation users left the sony trademark and go to xbox microsoft and all for that notice
It’s really hard to tell what happened exactly to this game behind the scenes…what is sure is that Sony somehow destroyed one of the most talented game development teams.
No…they didn’t…it is a really huge challenge to overcome to yourself when you have two of the best games of the PS2…Just think about the expecting they have caused…better to not to continue with that name…I personally think it is just a marketing strategy.
Pardon my english, but the information seems to be different from what i read in gamespot article. Wololo if you can please confirm this?

Ahh, this is an update on the matter, good find!
This is sony saying that the game is still in developmet, but what I was reporting on was the fact they let their trademark end, they have revivied it – but like I said, they’ve let it happen before so it wasn’t much to worry about
So not only that, but they also have that 10% thingy going on?

Sorry, I had a brainfart and thought this was an article for the 20% discount thing.
Could you delete that? :3
