An additional shimmer of hope? – New usermode exploit for Firmware 3.35 has appeared!
Our forum member Crownable has apparently found a new usermode exploit in one of the PSP games that are available on the PSN store for the PS Vita.
He showcases a running Hello World on his PS Vita, that happens to be running the most recent firmware (as of now), system software 3.35.
While neither the bubbles (scrap that part…), nor a new kernel exploit is going to be released anytime soon, this could mean that a new VHBL could be released, if Crownable’s exploit game can be used for a VHBL.
Crownable confirmed that he is going to release his exploit, if it can be used for a VHBL, but he said he wants to wait for a new firmware to release it. With the recent release of the custom bubbles, that require a VHBL, he might change his mind, though…
His hello world looks promising so far. Let’s hope that it can be turned into a Vita Half Byte Loader with great homebrew compatibility!

VHBL releases seems to be not as often as they used to be. I guess thats good in its own way, thinking that we should be focusing on 3.18 golden firmware that can run:
-homebrews
-isos
-package installer
-bubbles
-Ps1 loader
-webkit exploit
Thinking about how much we achieved through out the years. This may not be as impressive as a native hbl, but this is briliant.

Piracy is never a good thing. It’s best not to encourage it. Video games are not our air and water, they are but extra entertainment for ourselves. Benefits, yes, but not necessities. When you don’t purchase games, you just hurt the system that brings those games to us in the first place. If they can be bought, and the publishers give the option of buying said game from them, please buy the game first.
You want to back it up, or play some old forgotten game, or run an emulator of an old game you used to play many moons ago, go ahead, that I can understand…To a point. But I will never understand the excitement to pirate/insult the very industry that we love so much. That is quite a shame, really. If you can’t afford games, I get it. But you probably have many other problems to deal with in your life, and they should be your priority.

I agree that piracy 90% of the time is never good thing. But the msrp for handheld game is $40 and $60 consoles, that is a bit too steep for a lot of people. 3DS games are actually more expensive games than the Vita because 3DS games drop in price at a much slower rate despite being a weaker system. But Nintendo has avoided piracy for the most, even though a lot of their 3DS video games are overpriced (ie Attlus charging $50 for their video games) and they forever to go down in price.
It’s even worse in some countries like Australia where games retail for $70-100. I already think $60 for a console video game is already ridiculous, but $70? That’s when you pirate. Piracy is usually A) for people who can’t afford games B)to counter high prices (ie the 3DS), C) to counter anti-consumer business practices . The reason why video game companies can charge so much for their services/games/hardware/etc is because of copyright law and I don’t want to get into an anti-copyright rant, but that is a fact.
The best way for companies like Nintendo and Sony to turn pirates into consumers is to lower prices which Sony does to an extent, but enough, they need to lower the msrp price for their video games to at least $25 imo. Nintendo does not lower prices for their video games, neither the Wii-U or 3DS despite having crappy hardware (it takes forever to get a price drop from Nintendo). People shouldn’t be dealing with hardware that badly inflate the system like the proprietary memory cards. If Sony was in the consumers best interest they would have used SD cards, but Sony is a copyright aggressor it’s only natural them to act like a corporate ***.
I agree with you honestly i think its stupid that sony nintendo and microsoft are building our counsoles to their ridiculous specs where as if you look at android it kinda stays the same in ten years are we gona get to play these games on emulators anymore or ar they gona start repackaging them so they can make more money off of a already million dollar title i feel its our duty to keep the big three in line because if we dont they can charge whatever they want for a game and it keeps the game market from getting stagnent with remakes (personally i believe that video games should be about the price of phone apps)

Since the PS Vita memory cards are cost not much (more over – I think they are too cheap to expect very long life while always r/w -ing date) they are not much capable to use with BitTorrents.
how about always adding information that “if you are interested in native vita hacks in future be sure to stay on firmware 3.18 and NOT update to latest one, even if hacks for PSP emulators become available for it”.
Its a shame how I play only the old psp games and emulators for the vita because there are really not many good games out. Most of the good games are in japan. Still waiting on that native 3.18 hack. I want the games that will never be localized in US like gundam breaker
Can we PLEASE, pretty please refrain from calling vPSP hacks “VITA hacks”? Sure its great to have full access to the vPSP, but just call it that. The “shimmer of hope” threw me off. I can’t wait to get my hands on a full set of emulators incl. GBA, GB/GBC, VCS/2600, Lynx, GameGear, NES, SNES, MegaDrive, etc. in full-speed VITA mode!
If it were a native exploit it would have been mentioned at the topic.

Honestly I’m sad, why since October have seen the news about 3:35 Explorer and still nothing has been released, know that the site needs to news, but please ask for by psvita news 3:35 if you have the possibility to download the file and run on the same.

@Buddy I think it’s best to stay on 3.35 for now. Since there are no public hacks for 3.35, its safe to say there wont be any for 3.36 either since its brand new. Im in the same position. I have my vita for 2 months now and it came with 3.35, but im not going to uprade because i hope the vhbl for 3.35 will be released, and when you upgrade to latest firmware any hope for new hacks will be much slimmer. If there isnt anything for 3.35 within the coming months (if you’re willing to wait, that is) than i guess its your choise to update.
been almost three months of promises about 3:35 exploration and always comes out a report on the exploitation 3:35 and no download. I think it unlikely a release us coming months. the maximum that we will see is “a new operation to 3:35 and no download. I’m sure that the next news will be a new promise.
