It has begun! November’s Tutorial contest, $60 to win!
Hey, it’s that time of the month… and yeah, admittedly, we’re a bit late to start this month’s contest, as we had to reschedule things a little bit now that SMOKE transitioned this responsibility to me 🙂
So, you know the drill by now: we have a tutorial contest every month on our /talk community. One contest for each console actually: PS4, Vita, 3DS, PSP, and PS3. Write a tutorial for any of these consoles, on pretty much any topic, and you get a chance to win a $10 PSN Code. 5 consoles, 5 prizes, and you can enter for several consoles (with several tutorials obviously) if you feel like it. At the end of the month, we ask our community on /talk to vote for their favorite entry on each console, and for each console, the tutorial with the most votes gets the prize.
Wait, that brings the total to $50? Yup, but in addition to that, the mods and myself will review all entries at the end of the month, and pick our favorite, for a “moderators special prize” $10 PSN Code. This one could go to one of the 5 winners (bringing that person’s prize to $20 instead of $10), or to a totally different entry. This one’s a new rule. We used to award the $10 bonus to the entry with the most votes overal, but we want to try something new moving forward. We’ll see how the “mods vote” goes 🙂
Rules
- Your guide/Tutorial can be any guide/Tutorial related to the Vita/PSP/PS3/PS4/ or 3DS
- Your guide/tutorial must be original content and not previously published on other sites. (Let me insist on that one. we are perfectly fine with simple tutorials, but we expect you to come up with those tutorials on your own, and for those tutorials to not be something obvious)
- If submitting a previously posted tutorial it will need to have significant updates to qualify
- Do not make new accounts just to vote for your own tutorial. That’s also a violation of the duplicate accounts rule here on /Talk
- “Tutorials” such as this one will not be accepted, Put some effort into it or don’t bother at all
Please note the following two fairly new rules:
- Before entering, be sure to read this guide on making tutorials
- You are only allowed to enter with one tutorial for each console. eg. you cannot have two PSVita tutorials, but you can have a PSVita and a PS3 tutorial. You will be able to choose which enters if you make two in the same console.
Awesome, how do I join the contest with my cool tutorial?

I know this isn’t really on topic for this post but I don’t know where else to ask my question and I think if anyone has the answer it’s you guys. What I’m wanting to do is play a PSP title (Killzone Liberation) on the PS TV (just a Vita in a box) that I just bought. It’s available on the PSN store no problem but unfortunately the game wasn’t released complete. They later added a patch for the final chapter which, for whatever reason, is available through the Killzone website but not the PSN store. I can get the patch on my PSP no problem by downloading the patch, moving it to the PSP through USB cable, and going to the download option in the game menu. Once it realizes that the patch is already on the PSP it just installs it automatically. The problem is that I have no idea how to replicate this process on the PS TV. Looking online I’ve seen a bunch of people with the same issue and some comments to the effect that it just may not be possible to accomplish. I figure if there’s any way of making it happen you guys would know it. Thanks in advance for any help.
Just a suggestion, Wololo, why not expand the contest a bit and offer that extra $10 to the best homebrew/hack/plugin/other such software released via Wololo.net in the month? It might help keep the scene expanding and encourage new developers…
(PS I’m not a software dev, so I’m not fishing for PSN codes 😉
Sorry, the word “f1shing” got highlighted as some PSP homebrew I didn’t develop…
