PlayStation Now Open Beta Coming in July
Sony’s Netflix style game streaming and rental service is making its way to select Sony TVs, PS3, PS4 and PSVita soon.
Sony has been sending out invites to the closed beta for PlayStation Now for the last few months. If you haven’t got in yet, don’t worry, Sony has announced at their E3 press conference that they will be having an open beta for PlayStation 4 starting July 31st. It will eventually move across all platforms there-after.
There is still no word yet as far as pricing or availability. Right now all of the games are free in the closed beta so it’s unclear if that will change. The beta right now has only been announced for North America and Canada. The beta will serve as a test to gather user feedback on renting and purchasing pricing but not limited to the overall quality of the service. Latency and image quality is probably the biggest determining factor as to whether the service can be successful.
Sony announced that some new games will be available to stream when the open beta launches. Some of those games include Dead Space 3, God of War Ascension, MGS V: Ground Zeroes, Ratchet and Clank into the Nexus and Ultra Street Fighter 4. Sony plans on adding over 100 games to the streaming service by the start of the open beta in July.
