E3: Microsoft’s Press Conference Roundup
A quick run down of the Microsoft E3 press conference without all the corporate filler.
Microsoft was the first press conference to kick off this years E3. The presser didn’t have any huge announcements or game changers (that were not already leaked). Microsoft did what they needed to do and kept everything about games. Here’s what took place:
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
Xbox showed off a live demo of the next installment in the Call of Duty franchise. As usual you’ll see the DLC first on Xbox. No Kevin Spacey to be found though.
Forza
Forza 5 is getting new DLC. Nürburgring, is a free circuit which is available today. Forza Horizon 2 was also shown off.
Evolve
Evolve is an FPS from the creators of Left 4 Dead. A brief gameplay trailer was shown of Evolve. Microsoft announced a timed, exclusive beta was coming. Microsoft has also secured a deal where the DLC will be on Xbox One first.
Dragon Age Inquisition
Bioware’s next RPG is another Dragon Age. A brand new trailer was shown off.
Assassins Creed: Unity
A live demo of Assassins Creed: Unity with four player co-op was shown.
Sunset Overdrive
Ted Price from Insomniac Games presented the first in game demo of Sunset Overdrive. The Xbox One exclusive also got a firm release date of October 28th.
Dead Rising 3 DLC
Dead Rising 3 is getting a wacky Capcom DLC treatment. It combines almost all of the Capcom classics with a Dead Rising twist. The X1 DLC is out now.
Dance Central Spotlight
Coming in September is an all new Dance Central game. The title will be digital only.
Fable: Legends
Fable Legends is another Xbox One exclusive demoed. The game will be a mix of third person and RTS gameplay. The game will be multiplayer co-op focused with a MP beta coming this fall. The game is aimed at a 2014 release. Fable Legends is a departure and rather a spin off from the main series.
Ori
Moon Studios introduced their new 2D game Ori and the Blind Forest.
HALO
Halo was the big punch for Microsoft this year. Halo 5 Guardians was shown off in a new teaser CG trailer introducing a new main character. It will be releasing next year.
Also announced was the Masterchief collection which will include Halo 1, 2 , 3 , 4 remastered in 1080p 60fps. It will include all campaign content and multiplayer content intact. It will include a beta for Halo 5 (launching Dec. 2014), and the digital series from director Ridley Scott that will lead into Halo 5. The collection is set to launch Novemeber 11, 2014 at a $60 price point.
Project Spark
Project Spark is an Xbox Exclusive where you build your own worlds and share them with your friends. The game was announced last year but we got a closer look this year.
Inside
From the developers behind Limbo comes an atmospheric 2D/3D platformer.
Scalebound
Other than a trailer not much was said about this game. The games debut trailer shows it to be a DMC and Monster Hunter cross over style game.
Rise of the Tomb Raider
The sequel to Square Enix’s hit reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise was announced, Rise of the Tomb Raider. The game is set to release next year.
Phantom Dust
A reboot/remake of the Original Xbox game is coming soon. If you remember this game you might feel really, really old.
Crackdown 3
The long rumored Crackdown 3 is finally coming to Xbox One. A reveal trailer was shown.
That’s it for Microsoft. Stay tuned as we’ll cover the rest of E3.
So are you happy with the announcements? Disappointed? What are you most looking forward to? Sound off in the comments below!
Crackdown 3 made up my mind to get an X1. The Crackdowns on 360 were some of my favorite games last gen, I would greatly enjoy a bigger, more destructable sequel.
I have no idea what Phantom Dust is, but I remember many, many games that are older than the original Xbox. I don’t feel old because I remember them.
Scalebound looked like it could be pretty sweet, but I’ll have to wait and see on that one.
Also, I lost hope in the Assassin’s Creed series after AC3. I recently borrowed AC4 from a friend and enjoyed it, but Unity looks to be a step above anything else the series has done yet. From the massive crowds to the more agile climbing mechanics.
Phantom Dust alone will make me pick up an xbox. Being able to play D4 will be a nice bonus though.
Most of these titles are not even exclusives, and the ones that are are the same *** as always, then there’s those f*cking timed exclusives. I hate microsoft’s corporate ***, they’re never gonna see a penny from me.
I just ran over the list, and found 11 exclusive game out of 16, and an exclusive DLC with a positively crazy name.
None of this is incentive enough to go out and buy the XBox One. The only really interesting thing that isn’t a cross platform title that holds interest is the Dead Rising 3 DLC… DLC hypes me more than any of the full scale games, that’s pretty sad. Oh well, Dead Rising 3 will either eventually hit PC or the PS4 at some point and it will probably come with the DLC, lol.
Its actually confirmed to come to PC this summer. You can buy it on steam and preorder it already.
