Minimur, WTH Happened This Week? Pre-E3 News Special & Where To Watch!
So E3 is coming up (At time of writing) and I’m here to tell you about all the news that’s been swimming around the internet last week. News includes a new Playstation 3 and 4 model being certified, along with many other bits and bobs about E3, including line-ups of the conferences and how to watch them! First up however, Vita game announcements are due:
Rumour:
Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare
Now onto full E3 news, first off let’s take a look at the lineup for the conferences, if you don’t want to look, scroll down, simple! Lets show the linesup in chronological order of the streams, starting with microsoft, then EA, after is Ubisoft and then Sony. Although Microsoft has not announced it’s line-up, there has been a leak showing what is coming up in the conference. here it is:
- Ryse 2 is in development and will be announced at the show in a real-time in-game trailer. Gone is the Roman period, enter the medieval setting. The game will offer more freedom of exploration and a refined combat system. The main character is a sell-sword of sorts with a greater destiny. This game looks beyond belief. No release date (possibly late 2016)
- Forza Horizon 2 will be announced for release in October 2014 vai Playground Games. It will once again be open world and set in Louisiana, Missisips, New Mexico, Texas and Arkansas. Full day/night cycle, real time weather. Estimated 80 hour single player.
- 343 Industries will unveil Halo 2: Anniversary. This is a full (multiplayer included) visual makeover of Halo 2, it will also include the same options as Halo Anniversary (Including both visual modes) skulls etc. It will include the E3 2003 mission as a bonus unlockable and the maps from the PC version.
- No Turn 10 this year except in supportive capacity of Playground.
- Halo 5 will get its release date.
- Rare is prepping a re-boot of Battletoads and Perfect Dark. BT will initially be a download only title (see Killer Instinct) and is set to run at 60fps. Perfect Dark is looking to be rebooted into a Third Person Adventure game – Similar to Uncharted.
- Epic will be there to unveil their new game base on the Samaritan demo from 2012. This will be XBOX ONE EXCLUSIVE as Microsoft is the publisher. Possibly the best looking game of this generation.
- Good Science Studios will unveil their Kinect Only game “EchoBlack” – The game is controlled via the use of Kinect and the player plots through an adventure game drawn as by echolocation. The vibrancy of the world depicted alters depending on the pitch, loudness and location of the players voice. No release date.
- Twisted Pixel will reveal their next digital game which is set in a sci-fantasy planet of Dekelsus. Possibly a 2.5D platformer.
- Black Tusk will have a CGI trailer for Gears of War : Lazurus which will show the direction the series is heading.
- Lift London will be showing 2 projects. They are small and digital based. No other details unfortunately.
- Lionhead will have a brief gameplay of Fable Legends and bow out with a teaser of their next project which is set in a post-cataclysmic Earth decimated by egg shaped objects (possibly aliens)
- Frontier Development is working on a family friendly Kinect title for release in 2014
- Phantom Dust : Sacrifice is being worked on by Grounding Inc and will be a prequel to the original. The game will be episodic in nature.
- Quantum Break will be out November 2014 – There is a multiplayer mode – Part 1 of a trilogy. The game has had a significant graphical upgrade since last year.
- Sunset Overdrive is aiming for release on the last weeks of August/Early September. Graphically it looks like the CG trailer and the Parkour element of the game is a mix of Sonic, Jet Set Radio and Ratchet and Clank.
- The secret Japanese game is coming from Platinum Games and is a Viewtiful Joe like action- beat em up. Codename is “RugPuddle”. This is part one of a multiple game deal with Microsoft to publish other titles in the future.
- Leap Experience Pioneers will announce their game which looks like a TPS/RPG hybrid set in a Sci-fi universe. Looks very Mass Effect inspired. COMING 2015
- Platform Next Games is a new studio. They will be presenting an unnamed tech demo based on an upcoming project (similar to Black Tusks demo last year) which appears to be set in either an ancient or fantasy setting.
- Games With Gold will be announced for Xbox One starting immediately. The aim is that it will be 1 retail game a month, 1 digital game per month of a choice of 2. This will evolve as time goes on.
- Microsoft will announce the date when retail units can be activated as development kits, it will be before October 2014.
- Crackdown: Skyline – Coming 2015 – No other info, not even the developer. Microsoft Studios.
- Multi-platforms are as follows:
The Division (Xbox One is now lead platform)
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
Fallout 4
EA game (not specified here)
Exclusive/Timed DLC on all.
Now I’m not believing all of this. So I’d take it with a pinch of salt. Some of these are inevitably going to be true being as anyone could guess them, but just be cautious.
EA, you say? (I’m a poet and I didn’t even realise)
- Battlefeild Hardline
- Dragon Age: Inquisition
- The Sims 4
- Fifa 15
- EA Sports UFC
- NHL 15
- Mirrors Edge 2
- New project from Dice and Criterion
- Titanfall DLC
I’m sure there’ll be a few surprises in there aswell…..
Next up is Ubisoft, I can’t really think of anything that rhymes with ‘Ubisoft’ so maybe I’m not a poet. That’s a damn shame, such a pain.
Ubisoft were also kind/teasy enough announce their line-up, they are the following:
- Assassins Creed Unity
- Far Cry 4
- The Division
- The Crew
- ‘And more’
Hmm…… I wonder what the ‘and more’ includes. I’ll definitely be finding out and reporting back to you!
Sony’s leaked line-up is pretty impressive, if it’s true I’ll be buying a Pony! Here’s what the leak suggests: There’s alot to read about the leak, so i’ll sum it up with simple bullet points:
- U{ncharted 4 3 minute trailer, graphics supposed to ‘set benchmarks for this generation’
- Media Molecule’s title will be for Project Morpheus launching in late 2015
- Gran Turismo 6 is coming to PS4 at 1080/60, re-named Gran Turismo 7: Prolugue which has extra features
- God of War 4 teaser will be present
- Kill Strain trademark is related to Syphon Filter reboot for PS4.
- Wipeout is also making the transition to PS4.
- Quantic Dream has a trailer prepared – unsure whether it is penciled in for Gamescom or E3. Sony will be watching Microsoft’s presser earlier in the day to gauge whether additional titles will need to be slotted in to dampen hype. Expect Dark Sorcerer- like visuals in real time.
- The Order:1886 will get a stage demo.
- Ninja Theory working on a PS4 exclusive – possible Heavenly Sword sequel
- Sony London will be at E3. First AAA title in many years. 3rd person title.
- Guerrilla Games bringing their RPG to E3.
- *** Punch busy at work on an inFAMOUS: Second Son DLC. Really cool. New powers. Possible new setting. E3 debut.
- Sony Japan Studios debuting two, maybe even three titles. Project Beast – spiritual successor to Demon Souls. The other is The Last Guardian. Retooled for PS4, possible Winter 2014 title.
- Evolution will give Driveclub some time in the limelight. It’s shaping up to be incredible with jaw-dropping visuals.
Woah. at least some of this has got to be true.
Right, here’s a REALLY HELPFULlL timetable for the time-zone of the conferences.
Where can I watch the conferences? Many places! So first of all if you’d like to watch all of them in a row, you can on IGN.com/E3 and also on their app on the following devices:
IGN will also be streaming live demo’s and developer interviews, which is why I’ll be watching it on their site!
You’ll also be able to watch the stream on Eurogamer.co.uk I’m not sure what website get’s less traffic but if I had to guess I’d say IGN is more popular, so if your internet isn’t rock solid like that guy who has google fibre. your better bet it Eurogamer out of the 2.
Forbes has done a great job outlining where to watch the streams, I’ve listed the above ones being as you’ll be bable to watch all 4 on the same webpage. If you’d just like to watch a single stream, here’s the links:
Microsoft:
EA:
Ubisoft:
Sony:
As always there’s an awesome gif that circles the internet prior to E3, here’s this years one:

Not surprised
Looking forward to e3. On a separate news, FF type 0 English patch is out. Time to dust off the PSP.
A friend of mine works at a PR department of Ubisoft. He says the ‘and more’ is a new IP.
“Crackdown: Skyline – Coming 2015 – No other info, not even the developer. Microsoft Studios.”
More of this, Microsoft! Convince me to buy your system! Make it better than Crackdown 2, though. Coop was nice, but it wasn’t as fun as the first game.
“It will include the E3 2003 mission as a bonus unlockable ” My heart nearly skipped a beat when I read that part. I was so utterly disappointed that none of that gameplay was even in Halo 2 and have wanted to play it for a really long time. If they truly just upgrade the graphics and leave the multiplayer intact unlike CE Anniversary, this will be an instant console purchase for me.
Aww saw the chart and got exited thinking it was the exploit chart…
Then I actually read it…Still pretty excited about E3 though.
i’m interessted in the new ps3 model ^^
maybe they will make it now smaller than supersmall o-O
and i think it will break only if you want to change the games or if you look to hard on it xD
i have only the newest version (super slim) ps3 version, never had the prior version and did*t have proplems but i hope the new version will be better ^^
(but i think they will make the same things like the psp…another ps3E “Essentials” version)
sorry for my bad english q.q
ps vita not included in the current E3 conference
Sony put the Axe to the PSP, they are slowly drowning the Vita. they better have life preserver in the form of games, how about some AAA games, not the useless phone dlc garbage. The good game are few and far between. There are so many top IP and game brands for PS3/PS4, why not create a few for the Vita.
Good thing there are people on the scene here to allow emulators and psp ports. Sony are sinking the vita, Sony its time to help the vita swim. WE WANT GAMES!!
people didnt spend hundreds of dollars for smartphone games. our phones can do that. Yes there are a few good ones, but they are few and far between and dont give the Vita the name it deserves.
