PSVITA Firmware 3.10 out today, will probably block TN-V

A new vita firmware update will be hitting the PSVita later today.
It has been quite some time since we’ve seen a new firmware update for the Vita. The last firmware update (3.01) was in December of last year. Sony just announced that a new one will be rolling out later today.
Within that time frame we’ve released a few exploits with the capability of running Total_Noob’s popular TN-V CEF. It seems as though Sony was holding the firmware update that should have already been released to patch the exploits, so that they could actually add some real content to the update. Wouldn’t want too many “fixes stability” updates in row, now would we?
Some of the new features and changes in PS Vita’s 3.10 system update below:
-
You can now display up to 500 applications on the home screen.
-
A Calendar application has been added for PS Vita, allowing you to set up gaming events with your friends. Sync your Google calendar to have all your events with you on your PS Vita. You can also share your favorite events by using the Messages and Email applications.
-
A new “Manage Content on Memory Card” option has been added to the Content Manager application. You can now view the data on your memory card, making it easier than ever to manage content on your PS Vita. You can now view memory usage by content type, and delete content and applications.
-
Music – You will now be able to search for content saved on a connected device such as a PC. Music – You will now be able to search for content saved on a connected device such as a PC.
-
Video – You’ll be able to now sort content by size.
-
Photo – Rotate Screen Automatically has been added to Photos to control tilt sensor for rotation of images. Freeform has been added to the Panoramic mode selection list.
-
Settings – Adjust Daylight Saving Automatically has been added. 30 minutes has been added in Enter Standby Mode Automatically
-
You can now send and receive voice messages using the Messages application on PS Vita. Exchange voice messages with your friends and players on PS4 and PS Vita.
To add to that list it will undoubtedly block TN-V and its respective exploits. If you update you will not be able to get TN-V for a very long time and you will no longer have access to your exploit. Staying on 3.01 is the best recommendation. You can always wait until an exploit is back on PSN and use a PS3 and OCMA to copy the game over.
If you decide to stay on 3.01 make sure to download what you need from PSN because you will not have access to it unless you update!
We’ll update you as soon as the firmware goes live and any changes it brings, expected or unexpected.
staying with 3.01
Well sad news indeed, I suppose the 3.01 exploits had to be addressed at some point. I’ll miss being able to go online on my exploited Vita but I’m thinking of getting another so I can have one of each 🙂 Here’s hoping for a 3.10 exploit in the near future but I won’t hold my breath.
Someone please crack the vita wide open!
I’ll crack it for ya. Just give me a hammer
I find it much easier if you use a wooden mallet
gimme your vita and a screwdrivers, i’ll sell it separately :p
I wonder if Sony purposely gimps the Vita at launch with stupid restrictions like the 100 app limit so that they could remove it later and make people with hacked Vitas want to upgrade 🙁
at 3:01 am buy games exploid this version
back to psn I install tnv??
I wish I could talk like that
This should be interesting. I may or may not update. I really havent used the exploit all that much.
Since I still have 2 PSP’s, I haven’t used TN-V much. I will definitely hold off on 3.10, though. TN-V is a great piece of work, and I don’t want to lose the ability to use it.
YES! YES! YES!
Please SONY block ALL PIRATES!! To JAIL WITH THEM!!
It’s not about pirating.
It’s freedom of choice.
What you’re saying is *let’s make it so people can only eat at restaurants because Kitchen knives can kill people*.
We use the exploit not only for homebrew, but for games WE HAVE AS UMD!!!!
Practically everyone who has a PSV had a PSP…
Such an idiotic statement. “Piracy” doesn’t hurt many in this industry. A few, sure. Sony, Nintendo or Microsoft? Almost NEVER. Nintendo only REALLY got hurt with piracy during the Famicom Disk system days, but that obviously didn’t sink them.
If the Vita had ALL the PSP games available to it through the PSN store, you may have a point. But I want to play Star Ocean on the beautiful Vita screen and I’m going to do it whether you like it or not. I bought the game, several times already, and yeah I can do what I want with it since it’s for my own private use.
If piracy guaranteed damages the DS would have sank and Nintendo along with it.
PSP ended up doing great and frankly, “piracy”, emulation, homebrew is precisely what kept systems selling until the games finally came, and the dreamcast died from the PS2 being released. PERIOD. Sales data PROVES this. Those are the two modern systems that idiots blame piracy on, yet have no common sense behind it. Also, if piracy = less sales, the PS3 would have been absolutely amazing during its first couple years.
I completely agree with everything you’ve said except for one thing. The Dreamcast was technically sunk because of people pirating games. How many people did you know back when the DC was for sale that had burned games for it that worked from day 1? I know I had a stack of at least 10 games that weren’t bought by me that all worked on it and many of my friends would just pass the burned discs around effectively eliminating the need for any of us to ever buy retail copies. The PS2 was a huge competitor for the DC but the simple fact that anyone who owned a Dreamcast could simply go online, download the game they wanted, then burn it to a basic R/W CD killed the system’s game sales and thus the system itself in just a few months time.
So because that is what you did it makes it a universal fact? No the Dreamcast(and I am a fanboi for the thing BTW) sold very well all around till the PS2 was released
Piracy did not kill the Dreamcast but the PS2 rofl stomped it
There is no need to pirate Sony with those sales and PS Plus. EA/Origin? damn sure. But with platforms like Steam, humblebundle.com, GOG and the Sony Entertainment Network, there is no need to pirate video games. It’s not about the prices alone, but more the mentality of the platform holders, to always get as much profit out of little content.
But that’s not the point. A custom firmware is not about pirating games, but about running self made software, customizations that don’t hurt anybody or even fan translations of Japanese games that never get localized in English. It is about the freedom to do with your device, what you want to.
I can totally understand the point of people claiming the PSP was destroyed in the west by piracy. I see it similarly. But that was also the fault of the pricing policy, being falsely translated from the Japanese market to the west, advertising, and the target group, etc. Sony is still experimenting with that market and no one can figure out the best way, yet. With PS Plus, all PS3 and PS4 owners should now have access to about ten or more games, they can’t play without a Vita, but a lot still don’t buy a Vita, (which wouldn’t even cost more than 200 bucks or so) yet. Maybe there is a lot of people waiting for a price cut, a way to get cheaper memory cards or the right games.
To all people pending, I can only say: Do it. Buy it. It’s a freaking awesome device, that amazes me more than any smartphone (which costs X times more the price of a vita) and you get a lot of games for little money, just like with steam or even for no money at all. You can just spend the time with it, you would otherwise waste with candy crush and it’s not too heavy to carry around, next to your phone.
And jail? Really? Unless it’s an indie game, (which most psp games aren’t) NO ONE is practically getting hurt. PSP gen is finished, it’s just trying to get all the games off the shelf basically
And fan translations, of Japanese games, which never got released in the west.
Im a noob. If my vita is on 2.02, is there an way of installing ecfw on this puppy?
Well, have you already bought one of the exploits? If not… no =(
If you have access to a ps3 then you’re fine. Just buy Uno on ps3 or pc through SEN and download on ps3 (or any other game on this list http://www.zload.net/bilder/PSVita/VitaExploitChart.png that wasn’t patched for 2.02…uno boots into ecfw pretty quick though.) To transfer it to your vita you will need to install open cma (guide on this site) run it and connect the vita to your pc. Without closing content manager on the vita transfer from ps3 to vita and bam! exploit.
Thank you very much sir. Great info. Luckily I have access to a PS3 and several Vitas. I need attempt the exploit.
No point in staying in 3.01 looking it can only emulate psp games while i already have a psp will update to enjoy ps+ there is truly no point of piracy with ps+
Not when there’s no PSP2i!
I’ll be moving onto 3.10.
I bought Persona 2 for two reasons : Its a game I’ve wanted. To try out the Vita CFW.
Its a bittersweet feeling. Ultimately it isn’t beneficial to me.
PSP games look beautiful on PPSSPP and same goes for PS1 games.
I have a Bluetooth controler, so I’m able to play on my phone or. PC.
It was a nice go around, but I don’t see the point in Vita CFW anymore.
There’s still no PSP2i.
I guess they got wind of total noob retiring from the scene, so its business as usual for them now.
Let me get this straight… I have to get an exploit in order to get TN-V on my Vita? I’ve been trying to make sense of all this.
2 days before FEZ 🙁
what if you buy fez on a ps3 and transfer it over?
Maybe charles proxy method will work?
I’m staying on 2.12, idc about PSN, I get bored of online games insanely fast. Also with Type-0 being localized by Operation Doomtrain, this is a no brainer. I will delete TNV as soon as PSN adds all my PSP UMD’s to the store.
Then you would have pay even more for them.
ill stay for now ill just use a proxy or the pc psn store for now after i finish ff type 0 , digimon and sol trigger , i just hope my ps plus wont be affected lol
Wow my comment got deleted
It is a really nice update. But Sony still hasn’t fixed the issue with displaying the avatars that you bought from PS Store on the Vita. Come on Sony, I don’t want to get on my PS3 all the time just to change my avatar.
After 4 months and THERE STILL NO F***ING COPY AND PASTE???
AFTER 4 MONTHS AND THAT ALL I GOT FOR NEW UPDATE???
Oh also i can access to psn on 3.01 HK PSN Lol
I guess i should enjoy it as much as i can for now
To be honest 4 months for developing one calendar and small update on old app??? seriously it shouldn’t took that long
Oh well…..I guess it 3.5 months to patch the TN-V and 0.5 month to add real new update
really waiting for persona to go back online i will use my ps3 to have the last kernel exploit on it 😀
I have to update! Unless I give up on 1year on plus!!
So I’m guessing you have no ps3 to get the plus games as they are offered and xfer them to your vita? You can still ‘buy’ them for $0.00 from the SEN playstation store and then when you do decide to update (a really good vita game is released/another k-exploit etc., whatever your criteria) you will be able to play them all. Or just you know use a friends ps3 and your good.
Good idea! But too late! Already updated!
I like this!!!
A new “Manage Content on Memory Card” option has been added to the Content Manager application. You can now view the data on your memory card, making it easier than ever to manage content on your PS Vita. You can now view memory usage by content type, and delete content and applications.
I’m really happy with the timing. I have FFX/X-2, Project Diva f, Spelunky, Velocity Ultra, Danganronpa, Ys, MGS VR and the two ps1 Oddworld games. Oh can’t forget the crunchyroll app (although I have a feeling I’ll watch anime on a larger screen.) By the time I get through all that the whole system might be open ;).
I do have some psps so I might end up upgrading if I like the look of the legend of heroes second chapter or more Danganronpa…probably not for a while though regardless.
waiting for sound on ps1 game.
And i’m waiting for some fixes on 3.01 Tnv because silent hill crashes at the end, valkyrie profile crash after a castle door and some games are running with sound glitches, disapointed to donations.
I Will wait until the exploitable games are back then buying to through ps3 OCMA
I’ll be updating but only because I have an android for playing emulators on the go. With my luck this will be like the good old 3.03 PSP firmware. Took awhile to get a downgrader.
You can still send stuff to your vita from sonys web store pages if you are on 3.01 even ps+ stuff it seems
I Don’t have ps3 but i have pc how can i transfer exploit games from pc to ps vita?
My english not good
I already update my 3G Vita, and yes, it blocks the exploit (101 MM, corrupted save data detected), but my other Wifi Vita is not updated since that one mainly used for exploit.
well atleast download que is still working so no worries for now
I hope exploit was not blocked…hope..
total noob already retired.. oh no
Bad update for TN-V users. I guess I have to update now.
Staying on 3.01 until I need to renew my PS+.
Unless a really good sale/game is made available. Then all bets are off.
Seriously considering buying the 2nd gen VITA now..
Having 2 VITA’s would stop me from choosing between homebrew or latest VITA games. Or just forget about homebrew on VITA and use it all on one of my PSP’s. Choices.. Great to have them. 😉
Persona 2 exploit still work with this update?
