Wow, that’s gotta suck! So excited for a new PS4 and all just to have it fail.. Good thing for the warranty..

  2. NinjaKaskashi says:

I have pre ordered one in the EU. IGN say if you put pressure to the top of the console you can see some of the menu so maybe I’ll just have to sit on my ps4 on eu launch whilst I play on it:P

Anyone expecting a FLAWLESS manufacturing line must be a complete idiot.

Even with techniques as Six Sigma, production of goods will have a margin of error.

The main issue would be how quickly Sony replaces faulty units. Seems that they’re prepared for this kind of eventuality – I mean, they should be – having been in the market for a significant amount of time now.

No one thinks it will be flawless. People are only concerned because out of all of the consoles that are currently in the hands of consumers and reviewers, quite a large percent of them are faulty. It could be a sign of things to come.

    • squiggly says:

No one expects flawless, but you can make it close. How many Wii and WiiU consoles break at launch? Id give it to Nintendo to make the most reliable hardware consoles. So it can be done. Maybe Sony should have taken more time on this one. Id say they rushed it. But they had to release it now to not get behind Microsoft.

think over heating i remember the ps2 slim would sumtimes freez and the image would be messed up

Those guys never learned from Micro$oft’s dirty tactics… “They would do everything to spit out some hideous and biased news to attack in shadow the PS4.” use some common sense guys, this PS4 is one of the biggest ambition from SONY playstation so they would make it a masterpiece and there would be a biggest tricky idea from their competitor. let’s just say you have a great restaurant, more customers and more money but one day one man named Mike came to your restaurant and make an underground deal to one of your employees named Sata to copy those recipes and simply told that “I would give you $10,000,000 if you’ll put dirty rotten rat to dish before you serve it.” and that’s a bad image for you, next is investigation then maybe Sata could get fired but taking the big bucks with the opportunity to work to the Mike’s newly opened restaurant and greet you “Good Job”. so would you give up your business that you love even if it isn’t your restaurant’s fault? playstation experienced that since XBucks came out.

What does this have to do with anything? The PS4 is a faulty piece of hardware it seems. We have yet to see what the XBone is like. From past experience, I would say that a launch XBone will last for 8 years, while I’ll have to go through 4 PS4s in 6 years (due to their equivalent of YLOD). I’ve never had a RROD, but have had 3 YLODs due to overheating. Sorry, but I have to give the quality hardware award to Microsoft, and not “$ony”.

      • clorbag says:

I could say the exact same thing. I have had 2 Xbox 360 rrod on me new and old and now my slim freezes all the time. Compared to my ps3 fat 60gb never once had a problem so it seems to me its luck of the draw. But I have heard way more Xbox break than ps

  6. k3nn says:

ahahahaha! (a la minion’s laugh while pointing fingers to those who got those ps4s!)

early adopters are really wasting money doesn’t anybody think so?

  7. Josh says:

not surprised to hear news like these honestly, these are the risks you will like have to deal with if you are an early adopter, especially with the race to launch these consoles as fast as possible, want to play it safe? buy it 2-3 months later or if paranoid wait for the next minor versions (slim, etc)

  8. squiggly says:

An HDMI port failure to me is a complete console failure as most newer televisions and projectors only have HDMI ports. If you cant see what it does, what does it matter if it can power on? I hope this doesn’t happen with my PS4, because it would be useless to me. Maybe I should purchase the extended warranty just in case from Sony…

    • Disel says:

If buying an adapter is a console failure for you, then you are missing out on a lot of fun then. I have never used hdmi cable in my life and feel absolutely fine without it and I dont plan on using hdmi with ps4.

  9. jonny2jo says:

i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again PS4 SMALL!!XD

  10. jturns says:

hopefully this means i can get cheap broken ps4’s soon to **** around with!

  11. Timber says:

Well unfortunately as these consoles get more advanced, more can go wrong with them. more components = more probable problems. I have an atari 2600 and a Nes that still work great because their’s less technology. I junked a few 360’s and haven’t bought another nexgen console since, can’t afford the risk!

  12. x-eye says:

I was gonna gloat but then I thought…nahh. hopefully things will get worse >:)

  13. Disel says:

    @Charles Fasano

I’ve done it with PS3 and it worked perfectly fine. I imagine it will with PS4.

    • Charles Fasano says:

I want to know how the PS3 can output using a USB cable and not using the video outputs in the back of the console. The Video converters I’ve seen require the use of the HDMI port.

  14. Timber says:

I agree, just avoid that HP and Dell junk.

does anyone know how long the HDMI cable is? my tv is mounted and there’s a 3 meter / 9.8 foot drop to the floor……
