I don’t know if Daz deserves it, but Rock Star doesn’t have much choice if it could result in a cease and desist order.

  2. Anon says:

Being called back? *** daz. *** his music.

  3. dnedu says:

How would all compies get taken back and destroyed lol

  4. Dmaskell92 says:

He should just be happy someone is playing his tired *** music. It might strike up some Itunes sales. Either way, imo 4k is worth those garbage songs. I hope he wins less in court than he was offered. After those attorney fees, how much honestly does he expect to receive?

  5. GymePoggle says:

From what I’ve seen, it sounds like the 4k offer was what was initially offered to him, not in response to his C&D. The songs in question were only produced by Daz.

One of two things most likely happened. If he really did decline the offer, R* just messed up and missed paying him. Otherwise, he initially accepted the offer, but realized that GTA V has made over a billion dollars and just now decided 4k is not enough.

  6. HaYNigloo says:

I’m looking at this from a marketing strategy, cuz guess what happens if a C&D is issued? Sales go up, maybe Daz already settled this. I’m just thinking about a way for R* and the like, to make more money on a bigger-than-weekend-blockbusters title. Lemmme ask you this, “IF the C&D happens, are you gonna buy another sealed copy or even better Limited Edition sealed copy?”

  7. Epicsnail says:

Ok so if they recall gta v does that mean if decide to take it back to gamestop or wherever we bought we get our money back because I was thinking about selling my copy

  8. Show says:

He’s entitled to a deal at least on par with similar artists in his position with his current bargaining power whose music was also used in the game. So, like, he wouldn’t get the same deal as Katy Perry, but he might get something similar to his buddy Kurupt. Rockstar is legally obligated to pay him something for the use of his IP because of licensing rights. The question after that is how much, if anything, he should have received for royalties per copy sold.

  9. Z says:

Sounds like he’s just trying to get the money. If he wasn’t, he would just be happy knowing that there’s a possibility for more people to discover his music.

  10. Wrozen says:

    heck no.

  11. Acid_Snake says:

His decision to decline the $4K will cost him a lot. Not only he’s risking getting paid much less from the law, but he’s risking loosing a lot of fans, everyone loves GTA and it’ll continue to sell, but Daz will loose the possibility of people discovering his music through GTA, and he’ll loose his already establish fanbase (if he has any). TBH, he should be glad he’s getting advertised by such a HUGE and popular videogame.

    • Wrozen says:

      Completely agree

      • Against says:

        I completely disagree.

How would you feel if TrueBlue stole VHBL/Wagic then sold it as part of a Vita custom-firmware package while paying nothing back to Wololo? Would you really be saying “Wololo should be thankful?”

If they were really true fans they wouldn’t abandon him because someone stole his work, profited from it, then he stood up for himself.

        • the3 says:

I think it depends on where the songs they used stand if there on cd up for sale then yes he needs a fair deal if u can dl atleast 1 mixtape and get them free the he is sol cause any one can get them free and all r* would have to say is they used the mixtape version which cant be bought or sold cause its illegal

        • TelgarDrakore says:

Thats a completly ignorant example, Wagic/VHBL together are what Wololo are known for beside the website and maybe some very obscure side things. Your example is like saying “What if Rockstar took all of Daz’s albums and put every single one of them in the game”. They did not, they only put 2 songs in out of his whole discography, and you would have to buy his album for the other 8-12 in just THAT album.

That said Daz does deserve some sort of compensation if he feels its necessary, but only if he said no to using his intellectual property and rockstar went ahead and did it anyways. Thats copyright infringement and plenty of normal people already get sued for tens of thousands every day by the *** music industry for that, no way in heck should a company with money doing it get away with it.

  12. Lol says:

Suge Knight probably sold the rights. I doubt Daz owns ***.

  13. Lol says:

Suge owns rights to the dogg pound still.. this is dumb… another ****** looking for a hand out.

  14. jonny2jo says:

You guys are looking at it the wrong way if what he said is true then they owe him big imagine making something and someone steals and makes millions out of it! would you smile and say as long as people like what i made i’m ok!?

  15. DJ Brotherson says:

Dad Dillinger is from the Dogg Pound. You know, Daz and Kurupt? Rapped with Snoop Dogg. His music does not suck. He produced most of the tracks on 2Pacs All Eyez on Me but Dr See stole the credit. It been happening to him his whole life. 4k is a pretty small amount compared to what Rockstar made. He should bappy, yes but he helped made Compton and the west coast stand out on the map when it comes to oldskool Gangsta rap.

    • Acid_Snake says:

“4k is a pretty small amount compared to what Rockstar made”
the money rockstar made was based off what they created, people would have bought the game anyways, Daz Dillinger or not. If you split all the money spent on producing the game then the 4K are generous enough.

  16. DJ Brotherson says:

    Dr. Dre*

  17. ShitBae! says:

If I were him. I’d only take 50 cent per copy. Then I’ll be happy as heaven.

    • Kitsune says:

      Let me rephrase that:

“If I were him, I’d only take $8,000,000~ for it, then I’ll be happy as heaven.”

  18. Wrozen says:

I think this guy is being a little ***. I know a dozen signed artists that would be happy with just getting the coverage from such a large company and just getting their name out there. This guy isbeing a selfishasshole tryingto get the best of a company just because he can. He should be lucky they put his *** music in their masterpiece.

  19. sathriel says:

I think it is going to be settled out of court, Rockstar won’t risk losing more money so they will give him a slice of their 1 billion cake.

  20. ydsurla48 says:

he’s hoping for character in GTA though.,*** his music

  21. SmashADBurn says:

I can’t take this guy seriously after reading those Twitter posts.

  22. Acid_Snake says:

I will not argue you about whether his music is good or not (specially since I have not heard any of his songs), that’s personal opinion and I respect it. What you can’t deny here is that Daz Dillinger is not as famous as other artists in GTA V or GTA V, yet he wants to get paid as such. He’s treating the whole business as if Rockstar is making money on his behalf, yet this is false, Rockstar is making money from the game THEY made. I do not think anyone knew Daz Dillinger was gonna be in GTA V, yet GTA V was pretty hot years before its release, heck even years before its announcement everyone couldn’t wait to see what Rockstar would come up with.
On another side, what Daz is doing is stupid. Yes Rockstar violated his rights, and they should pay the price, but there’s no guarantee that such price will be any good. It’s a loose-loose situation for Daz, if they recall copies or make a system update that removes his music he’s loosing millions of potential new fans who might discover his music through the game. If he gets a monetary compensation, taking into account all the costs (lawyers and such), it could either be a really low amount or he could even loose money.
Also take into account that he’s going against a multi-billion dollar company that could hire way more and better lawyers than Daz could ever hire in his entire life, so there’s also a (rather small) possibility that he even looses the case.
He is also risking being hated by GTA fans, and that’s a LOT of people, plus he’s risking loosing fans that prefer GTA way more than him.
In my opinion, he should just settle this out of court and take whatever reasonable amount Rockstar is willing to pay him, rather than risk everything to a single card.

    • BOPZ says:

***! rockstar said <> daz said <> rockstar put the music on game even if daz said no; rockstar is wrong rocksatr as to pay.

      • BOPZ says:

damn balises, what i meant is :

Rockstar proposed 4k and daz refused, this is his right if he dislike video game i understand he doesnt want his music on it

Rockstar didnt give a *** and just put the tracks, there are hundreeds of west coast classics but they HAD TO put those 2 tracks? why?

Daz see how *** rockstar is and so want is rights paid!

And i guess all those kids trolling on Daz should know Tupac right? OK so Daz produced half of all eyez on me album… Still a “unknown” person for you all? What gangster rapper did rolling stone front page? Oh he did.

  23. Tower says:

I don’t know the pay structure for artists and projects like this (video games). So this could be a high or low offer, I am guessing low. Any company worth a salt would low ball the initial offer.

On another note…. How could R* go ahead with music where the rights weren’t secured??? The actual damages from a trial may be near trivial (about $5K) but there may be a substantial punitive judgement against them for proceeding without the proper rights. Cases like this could make sure that future companies proceed with better due diligence.

I hope that R* didn’t decide to go ahead and decide that they could bury the artist with litigation fees in the future and the cost ratio was worth it. That is just dirty pool.

  24. >_> says:

Eh, flip-flop and *** (hip-hop and rap) sucks *** anyway.

Smooth Jazz is where it’s at! 😀

  25. Joseph says:

His music sucks, why did they even steal bad music? I guess GTA V creators are morons. Now they”ll have to pay probably 100,000 dollars for *** music that they stole.

  26. Biggy204 says:

ummm R* doesn’t owe Daz a dime, if it’s “Ambitious as a rider” by 2Pac, because R* could have easliy gotten partial rights to used the Property, from…… 2Pac’s Estate, you do know even after death 2Pac’s mom makes money off his music right??? Daz, may have said no, but Tupacs Family probably said yes to R* to use the track on their game. Daz’s name isn’t the only one on the “written by” credits, as it states “Tupac Shakur” as well. Also before Daz had his own publishing, most of his stuff was under Suge Knights Publishing. the only songs he can take R* for is the Kurupt track and the Mack 10 track. Then Again, Mack 10 and Purupt most likely respectively said okay for their tracks to be used as they wrote the lyrics to the songs that was produced by Daz. Also “Thea Dogg Pound” track, most likely Snoop and Kurupt probably signed off on it, even without Daz’s permission as that song was also published by….. Suge Knight lol

Plus to add insult to injury, the whole Death Row Library isn’t even owned by Suge Knight anymore, rather then it is owned by a Canadian company called “WIDE Awake” who most likely also signed off on using the songs to R* for GTA V. Yup Daz has a lot of loopholes to figure out before he can get a “LARGE Piece” of the pie. That and it seems as though he is doing this, because of R*’s Billions of dollars in profits they made over their Launch week in total sales of GTA V.

  27. Josh says:

its illuminati games. either way, the devil still sits in the middle. daz should back off, because nothingon this small of a scale will matter when this country collapses anyways. but stay strong people, and learn of the real truth, with the help of ALEX JONES!!!

  28. Gmoney says:

Damn you guys don’t know hip hop! He produced most of tupacs classic ” all eyezon me” he also produced on snoops first classic doggy style! Dogg food! These are all albums that made hip hop in that era!
