Another Cool Gadget From Kickstarter : The MiiPC
So here I am again, reporting on some cool little bit of tech from kickstarter (and something else).
The android based PC is designed for kid’s safety and use for parents to see what their kids are up to.
It has an app on mobile platforms where the parents can control what the PC can do as well.

The PC features a special version of android to make the PC seem more…. PC like. If you decided not to waste a couple of minutes of your life watching the video unlike me, here’s a picture of it.
It looks quite nice I must say, and reasonably familiar which would be easy to use if my mum decides to get this for me, being an 18 year old and everything.
The MiiPC has features that where you can block certain games/ websites from your child using, which is ideal if there’s some homework to be done, I’m the king of procra….. procrastin….. messing around! Use of this feature is demonstrated on the video above.
The app will be on Android and iOS
The MiiPC has been successfull. Reaching it’s goal within a very short period and still over a month to go! Will it be as successful as the OUYA? Who knows. Android PC’s are always a loved thing anything Android has got a fair bit of love on here, from phones to consoles, PC’s and Mini PC’s

Among other things I found while browsing kickstarter, I found this awesome little project and thought it deserved more recognition. Being a huge geek/fan of The Walking Dead series (or ‘season’ to you Americans) and after watching the video I found it extremely funny and I have backed it. It is a film animation/ puppet parody of the series known as ‘The Wobbling Dead’ here’s the video;

Series is the whole show, season is (usually) one year’s worth of the show.
the usa still calls it a series like the rest of the world
shows are relesed 1 season at a time(usualy 6-12-24 eps at a time)
thats why we do 1 or 2 season box sets or complete series box sets
exp:: walking dead is finishing its 3rd season
so the series is 3 seasons long till the 4th season starts releasing
i say the new Atlanta,GA set area will be interesting with some being filmed on fort benning

and no “phenix city” is not a spelling mistake
A lot of other countries use Series, for example England, Doctor Who is a new series each year. The USA uses seasons each year,and as jd20dog explained shows here are released as seasons, but elsewhere the word series is used for each year
a american/canadian would never say I’m a fan of the walking dead seasons.
we would say I’m a fan of TWD series

I want one, i don’t have any kids so parental controls aren’t a bother but i want one, this would be great for alot of uses
What i love, the names of the characters are ‘Reccch’ ‘Drrrrrl’ ‘Lawdy’ and ‘D-Tag’ (the old white haired guy is in it, cant remember his name thoguh)
i personly find it really a shame when parents watch and restrict their childeren like this. it is like they don’t trust their own kids.
believe me, today kids need to be monitored more than ever… there is a *** generation growing with no moral or ethical nor esthetical references… nor do the kids today have any sense of respect for paternal authority, so this is not a natural, but a needed tool to pace with kids today
for that i blame the parents. if your kid is an a-hole by the age they know how to use a device like this (approx 6 years old) you didn’t pay enough attention to your kids, just didn’t care or the kid learned being an a-hole from his/her parrents. you need to teach you childeren right behaviour. and seeing how more and more parents but their kids into the daycare with completely useless idoits that are supposed to take care of the kids is this not really happening.
So wait a minute…
It’s BAD that parents want to monitor what their kids are up (parenting, if you will) to AND it’s their fault if their kids behave poorly due to lax parenting…

the best char in the Series just died… bleh.. walking dead will be dull now
the director of the first series (im prety sure he did some of the second) left and a new director came in, thats when it changed abit, but now the old director is returning. the old director was about story and gory. the current one is more on the gory side (although the story is still awesome!!!!

Your definition of cool is different then mine. This is a android system being promoted as a full computer ? While childeren idd need some control, but its a very bad idea to lock them in a system where they can just do what there parents know. I’m pretty sure the hackers around this website had no parental control when they discovered how to program, how to hack, how to use the internet. How are you ever to learn how a system works when you only see a designer-made-front-end ?
While there might be uses for this product I think wololo is the wrong medium to promote it.
Yeah give them a barebones kit and maybe linux, since most devs out there work on linux anyways. They can always dualboot to windows.
I like this thing, but I hope it comes rooted. That being that I would like to use actual remote viewing of what is being done and those features require root access. In the end this device is like a pc but for dummies that don’t know you could already do all these things and also on android. It will have a niche market like the moms and dads that are not pc literate but want to pay for easy access to features already out there on Win pro. I use win 7 pro and same with the other pc in the household. I can rdp in, i changed the access port fyi since everyone knows the default, and I can view traffic addresses on the fly via my router, on the home network or remotely. Then again I’m the kind of person that has full camera surveillance at home, backup power for my home security and ISP access (should a burglar be smart enough to cut power) and switch on fail to 3g/4g should my main circuit fail. There are products out there to simplify doing that too, but they cost more.
Hope my parents don’t know about this. 😯
