Does it have a cookies option? >_>

  2. eXcLuSiVeFXP says:

^I dont know, if u mean that as sarcasm. But yes, it saves several options when browsing, also via your gmail linked to the Play Store and Youtube account.

Anyways Wololo, first post here, and I received my Droid X360 yesterday, all in all, you have like the same Droid like me :P. Also every few seconds a bzz, while I vaguely think it has something to do with the speakers. Test the device out with earphones plugged in.

Also, a special note: the Analog sticks work as a PSP, they are not build like N64/PSVita stickwise. My battery went from 25% to 0%, but that is because it’s probably never been charged (some batteries need to get used more to lenghten lifespan).

Playing notes: Dpad is terrible for action games, or games where you have to move constantly, it indeed does not register every press, and heck – I have trouble pulling off a Hadoken in Street Fighter. This doesnt apply for simple games, like turnbased games (eg Final Fantasy).

  3. OMightyBuggy says:

Well make a part 5 review if something happens or if it gets a patch that makes it run better. 🙂

  4. zorrodood says:

i predict that there will not be a phone or tablet which is equivalent or superior to a console, within the next 50 years.

    • godzirra says:

That’s kind of funny, since 50 years ago we didn’t even HAVE computers. You seriously think that tablets won’t advance past the current consoles in 50 years?

  5. Jose says:

It sucks to hear that the hardware problems are universal.

I was hoping it would be selected Droid X360’s, but it seems everyone has the same problem.

Maybe we’ll see a hardware revision later on. I still don’t get how that went past the quality control, if they even had one.

  6. Crimson says:

Seriously? O_O i was wondering if this console has an update or whatever 🙂

  7. KrazyNez says:

Wonder if it has a recovery partition and if someone can figure away to root it?

    • KrazyNez says:

Oh, nvm found out a button on the top that looks like hard reset makes is go into recovery.

  8. SixtySixHundred says:

Good review, nice reading, a few comments…

Battery life will be a bit pants, but you can expect that from Android..

Is this thing rooted? And does it have a vulnerable recovery? If so, a custom ROM may be all you need to solve the software problems. It may go some way to helping with the touchscreen sensitivity and some other hardware issues you may be having too.

If you haven’t already, have a look over at xda-developers.com and see if anyone’s working on a custom ROM for this thing over there. That’d be nice.

  9. James Way says:

I’m so getting this. I already put my vita on craigslist. I got tired of waiting for the new firmware and ps1 games. I assume that ps1 is one of the emulators on this nifty device. All I want is ff7. Once the vita is sold, I’ll place an order for this. FYI, if anyone is interested, ps vita wifi, 32gb mem card, rayman origins and zagg invisishield for $350, obo. Well taken care of. I bought a few games of psn, but when I clear my account on the vita, I assume those will be gone too.

Hey guys, I’m the guy who wrote the script mentioned in this article, so I thought I’d quickly answer a few of your questions.

Yes the Droid X360 is rooted. It actually comes that way out of the box. No you cant use Android recovery or Clockwork Mod to restore/install roms. The physical buttons aren’t mapped directly so you cant navigate the recovery screen, HOWEVER, you can use Livesuit software to flash roms and restore.

There are no custom roms available yet, I’m working on one as we speak. In the meantime, download my script and try it out. It includes a patch that makes the controls significantly better and much more playable. I wouldnt go as far as saying it fixes them but it will definitely make you feel better about your purchase lol.

  11. x_x says:

    But does it bake…

  12. natsu says:

Can you upload some of the built-in applications?? They are apks in the system/app directory… Would love to try those enulators on my android device.. Haha.. If i remember correctly, there is a nintendo 64 emulator? And other stuffs…

Note: you can’t access system without root. So you might want to root that baby.. Hahaha

    • wololo says:

You can get all these apps and emulators for free on the regular Google Play store, why would you need me to upload them here?

    • Deen0X says:

Most of the emulation software can be found in the google Market/Play store, and most of them are free.

PSX (FPSe) and N64(N64oid) emulators you need to paid, but worth paying.

  13. Zabzeeb says:

Lets get some info on the Ouya 😀

    • oxMUDxo says:

The OUYA is looking better and better! now they have added XBMC! You’ll know it from the Xbox1 a great OS!

I’m so glad I’m a Backer and there’s less than 40 hours to get in so hurry and Back project OUYA!!!!!!!!!!

      • Deen0X says:

well, Ouya is a very cool concept and device, but i think is not comparable these kind of devices.

Ouya is a Set Top Box, this means, there is no inclination sensors, light sensors, touch screen, microphone, etc (nothing normal to a medium/high-end device)

is like comparisson of PSVita with PS3. is not comparable. PS3 is for home, and have his own kind of use (move, ps2, multiplayer, tv out, etc)

psvita… is a portable device. is much near to have the experience of the PS3, but not the same.

and yes, psvita have another hardware, sensors, and way to be used.

is the same for ouya and any portable device. i think they are not comparable, but complementary may be.
(you can see this video where i give a sense about what means “complementary” for android devices)

    Hi wololo some questions.

How is the performance of snes/psone/n64 emulators?

If someone fix the controls does it gona be perfect?

    • wololo says:

snes/n64: good performance, better than on the PSP
PS1: Haven’t tested in details, I just tried one game and the menus were confusing, but overall I wasn’t impressed. Difficult to beat the psp in terms of ps1 emulation

If the controls are fixed, yes, I think it could be a very good gaming machine + multimedia player

      • mcgee says:

Hst wololo, did the analog mapping work for android games?

        • wololo says:

No, android games are touch only from what I can say, unless they explicitly take additional controls into account, like wagic does

          • Deen0X says:

well, there is some tools you can test.
Actually, there is an apk called “Gamekeyboard” on the market. One of his features is to emulate touch events based on hardware inputs (buttons/keys)
you can edit the configuration of the buttons on screen, and then use it with many touch games that not have native support to keyboards.

Sixaxis controller do some similar, but based on controllers connected to the device (and in this case, is too hard to connect a sixaxis to the Droid, because the lack of bluetooth)

            again… apologize my poor english.

            😉

          • mcgee says:

Thank you guys for the info. I think I am still going to invest with the hope that it could be fixed with a custom Rom in the near future. I am also going to take a loom at the hardware point for the dpad to see if anything can be done such as a mod or hopefully something as simple as tinning the points. I am on vacation at the moment in California (hence the delayed response) so I wont be able to order it for at least a couple weeks. I will keep you guys in the loop via a pm on talk.

  15. James Way says:

So…Sony!! Your move. With Ouya, X360, etc.. the Vita looks more and more like a paperweight for me. Well I need no paperweight, so more like a door wedge; I do need one of those. Games are ok, or expensive as heck. PSone support was promised and still not here. All the other apps, FB, netflix, etc. are all things my tablet and my laptop and my tv and my cell phone and my desktop already do. I got it for the games; the Vita games and the promised psone games. So far it’s been good for everything else but that; at least for me. The games I have played on it have been PSP games I got off PSN. Should have gotten that, at least I’d have HBL.

  16. theknox1992 says:

Droid 360 or Xpleria play my bday on 8/9

  17. svenn says:

Honestly, when is the VITA gonne be patched ? If I want a starting animation beeing nyan cat for 10 minutes I can with this device. Cannot be done with VITA.

  18. x_x says:

Sony. Failing miserably..u guys might as well release the JB tools now 🙂

  19. confused person says:

So, this thing can actually play Vita games? This may be a dumb question but can it play them also online?

    • wololo says:

It of course can’t play vita games. At what point of the review were you led to believe that?

      • confused person says:

“The PS Vita has more horse power, obviously Vita games look and play much better than on the Droid X360”

        • wololo says:

I see. I meant that vita games look much better than the android games and emulators that the x360 can run.

  20. Deen0X says:

    Hi guys!
i wrote a little review about this device, if you get interested on read it.

    http://forum.openhandhelds.net/index.php/topic,145.0.html

    hope, you found useful!

    greetings!

  21. 6Dragon6 says:

What about the cameras? Do they work properly? Thanks for the review, its great.

    • wololo says:

The cameras are ok but not brilliant. enough to do some skype, I’d say, but clearly not as a camera replacement.

  22. b( says:

Mr wololo is it just the d-pad buttons that don’t make contact or all of the buttons, and when u say the joysticks are not analog does that mean it just has four direction or what does that mean and are the joysticks work enough to play games like Zelda ect.?

    • wololo says:

yes, it’s only the d-pad buttons that are tough (after installing furan’s patch that I mentioned above), the rest is fine.
About the joystick not being analog… I mean they are not analog. They represent 4 directions, which are either set to 1 or 0, with no intermediate value. So you can have “up left”, or “up”, but not “60% up, 20% left” or things like that.

  23. Allegro says:

    Great review!

According to the manufacturer, an updated X360 will be released soon. (Within 2 weeks)

    Updates that i know of:
“The upgrade will improve the button control, and making the overall experience much better.”

I don’t know if that’s hardware or software related. It looks like software wouldn’t need a new revision, if it could be patched or reflashed..

Would be interesting, if the soft/firmware would be the same.. (If script still works and is of use.)

I’m getting the upgraded version directly from the manufacturer, so i’m curious..

  24. E says:

Great 5 part Review Wololo. I am quite intrigued by this X360. I had never heard of it before now. Its design is kind of reminiscent of a PSP Upgrade/pre Vita device. Honestly, it kind of looks like the PSP should have looked from the beginning.

  25. Leona says:

    heck yeah Galaxy Fight~

  26. Vita Hacker says:

To all Hackers, Please make an Android or IOS Emulator
fot the PSVITA, That would be the best thing to ever happen to the PsVita, considering its Touch screen and Power..

  27. ncrouch141 says:

Is it fast enough to run PPSSPP for Android? That would allow it to play actual PSP games.
