Lamecraft – Minecraft on your PSP (Genesis compo entry)
It is rare for me to be that impressed by a “first” release. Drakon has been talking about his entry LameCraft on our forums for a little while now, and let me tell you, I was ready to classify this one as “vaporware”, or “fake”. Let’s be honest, it looked too good to be true. Well, that was before I could actually give it a try, and see it was real. If you know the PC game Minecraft, you will feel at ease with this genesis entry which reuses the same concept: allowing grownups to play with blocks like little kids. LameCraft is for now just a sandbox that allows you to build a 3D world to your liking. But Drakon has been restlessly updating this entry regularly for the past months, and each update is simply impressive. Still need to be convinced? 10 days after the first release, there’s already a massive community around this homebrew, and the release thread in our forums is already 23 pages long as I type this. This will quickly become a must-have in your homebrew library.

Oh yeah, I’m extremely jealous of a nes graphical block builder game.
To be clear, it’s cool this guy brought it to the psp, and much respect to him for taking the time.
But minecraft is lame, get over it.
Clearly someone who din’t try it. Its a sandbox game, this game would not work if it would have Crysis 2 gfx’s.
It is true i don’t think ill like it but because of many people’s reactions to the game i think. Will if i try it out
it’s not a sandbox, it’s a block builder. that’s all you do, I played with legos as a kid. Go out and buy some, you can produce better stuff with legos than with minecraft.
And the game could work with better graphics, the guy just doesn’t know how to make it work and/or doesn’t care to make it work and is satisfied with his mspaint blocks.
It is boring and I don’t know anyone that I’ve been acquainted with that has played it for any extended period of time. It’s funny how people are impressed by it though. Guess people are starved for a game where they can effect the game world enough that they’ll settle for anything.
I guess it’s hard to respect other people’s opinion and way easier to ridicule them. I don’t get why you’re all worked up over a simple game, but maybe that’s just me.

my suggestion is to add things such as keys and door blocks which open when you get to the key block
a win block that makes you win if you touch it
and a special mode for playing without the ability to edit or fly so you can play someone else’s stage trying to get to the end without cheating
omg I raly killed my battery fully charged then played with the charger on for a total of 8 hours playing I built a town and love it nice work☺
@Jurian: millions of people bought this game when it was only in Beta version, many professional developers have declared it to be the game of the year, the popularity of this game shows everywhere from youtube to facebook… Are you sure ou’re not missing something here?
I haven’t played Minecraft myself, but I can clearly see why it is fascinating. I used to spend hours on the Duke Nukem 3D builder, to recreate my house, classroom, etc…
This thing allows you to recreate virtually anything you want, this is fascinating, and on top of that it’s initially a one man project. Maybe you were simply not that much into Lego blocks when you were a kid? If building a world doesn’t sound attractive to you, and if a game has to have fancy graphics in order to please you, I think you’re missing a lot about what video gaming really is about, I feel really sorry for you 🙁
ive been following this project since it started and i have to say it turned out great. jurian this game is not about building blocks or even graphics. its about combining your imagination and creativity to create something that has functionality and a wonderful design. this game isnt supposed to be about objectives or having things to do. thats the beauty of it. its that you have to make your own goals in order to survive from things like arrow shooting skeletons to exploding creepers.
