Akabane87’s entry to the PSP Genesis competition is a very impressive space shooter involving some strategical elements. This game has been around for a few weeks now, but in this update, Akabane87 updated the gameplay, and the game now has an English version (although some bits here an there still need to be translated/polished).

The most interesting thing to me in this homebrew is that you create your spaceship from scratch, selecting where you put the engines, the cannons, and the shields, which has a real impact on the gameplay once you’re cruising in space and fighting against other customized ships. The first time I played, I was scratching my head, not understanding the concept of the game… turns out I had built my ship 100% with shields, leaving no room for reactors or guns…so my ship couldn’t move nor fire! The graphics are simple but very well done, which makes playing the game even better.

For now the game plays like a sandbox (you get to build your ship and play against hordes of ennemies, but there doesn’t seem to be any specific goal for now…)but there are many possibilities for the future of this homebrew, let’s hope the development keeps going 🙂
