Be the first to hack the NGP and receive 20’000$?
That would be awesome, right?
This year, Google announced they would award 20’000$ to anybody who would hack Google Chrome during the Pwn2Own contest. This contest aims at testing the security of major web browsers and mobile phones, and rewards the best hackers with impressive cash prizes, as well as cool hardware.
Earlier this year, Microsoft gave a t-shirt to the hackers of Windows Mobile 7, and Microsoft devs had a friendly discussion with the Windows Mobile 7 homebrew community, in order to see how Microsoft and independent devs could work together.
Who knows, Sony might participate in next year’s Pwn2Own contest. The prize for the first one to find a security issue in their systems: a lawsuit. Who wants to participate?
If only Microsoft or Google made a portable console, I wouldn’t even have to bother hesitating between Sony and Nintendo anymore 🙂

Google has *** community support, as least as far as Youtube goes and Microsoft’s products are overpriced.. Like Apple.
sony cant make that things happen. 🙂 i think they dont have enough confidence to participate on tha matter.
So I decided to collect my prize xD
*lol*
If you’re looking for an open handheld gaming system you should have a look at the Pandora project. They have now I beleive the most powerful handheld on the market, at least until 3DS, NGP etc. takes back the crown.
The Pandora is a GREAT initiative, when it was announced I was ready to get one, but not on preorder. I waited, waited, it’s still the same price 2 years later, with still no guarantee to get one, and the hardware is slowly getting old.
I consider it a nice experiment, but unfortunately not the thing I am looking for as a customer.
As a Developer, a pool of 4000 users is not super interesting either. It makes it difficult to build a community around a game or anything…
I’m sure they learned a lot from this, and I’ll be here when they come up with their next project 🙂
@wololo
or you could go buy a GP2X
or Sony’s UX computer series, I still thinks Sony did a great job on this tiny computer, although it’s not in production anymore, but look at it, it’s a PC that could fit in your pocket, way better then the modern netbooks, if you want a netbook, why not get a low-end laptop instead?
in other words: netbooks are ***, Sony shouldn’t bother with the game industry too much and focus on coming out the next UX computer.
dude, the title is just too wrong
“Be the FIRST to hack NGP and PAY $20,000 for LAWSUIT”
Google or Microsoft SHOULD release a handheld. They’d offer some stiff competition to Nintendo, and would definitely kill Sony.
microsoft’s handheld would be just as locked down as sony’s. Really if you want a google handeld just go buy an droid.
If it’s locked down, but they don’t spend all their time chasing homebrew users and actually release good apps and games for their handheld, I’d be happy to pick a Microsoft handheld up.
I don’t really see why google would make a gaming console….
better off designing your own.
damn it I hate the NGP
I might get the 3DS
@Wolfdawg
yes i´m hate the NGP too, not for the console itself (i think it will be great, graphically ofcourse…) , im hate it just for the silly anti-piracy politics of SONY, they think that they can erradicate the piracy but they just are delaying it.
i know that sony are just protecting their software, but they aren´t forgetting us, the consumers, don´t leaving us running all what we want. i´m bought a console, not rent it.

Some of your posts in this blog are really bitter and I like them.
It’s really difficult to find such good jokes about this kind of things.
A handheld gaming device from Microsoft… I think it would be as bad as the home console from Microsoft.
I’d hope the winner would get a nice coffee mug rather than a lousy t-shirt.
After you recieve the $20,000 you will be arrested for hacking their software and you will have to pay back the $20,000
There isn’t enough money in the world to make me touch another Sony product after this ***.
google creating a portable console?… that would be great. coz I’m sure it’s either Samsung or HTC will manufacture the device(or both?).
Well knowing Sony ~ they’d put up a contest and the winner will be taken to a back room, killed and then tossed off a boat. Afterwards they’d put out a new firmware patch asking for more contest participants. When someone replies asking why they do such things they simply put another firmware with a custom folder option, it doesn’t answer the question but it’s how they roll.
Hey. Lets try and ask why SONY would pay? maybe they can use the work the hacker did to strengthen security. And if they start recruiting/employing the few bright individuals that have selflesly shared their hard work with the community. There might not be a community.
