HBL for OFW 6.30/6.31, release in less than a week
Update: I could confirm that the US version of the game is exploitable as well, as I managed to write a Hello world for the US version š
Coder J416ā² s announced a few hours ago that his port for HBL on 6.31 is ready.
He had encountered issues unloading the main module of the game (understand: freeing some Ram for homebrews) so his work was delayed and the port of HBL wasnāt as easy as expected, but he figured out a solution to this critical issue yesterday, and announced that his code is almost ready. He announced on his blog that the release, as planned, would be done this month, most likely in less than a week.
The game used for the exploit is available on UMD and its name will be announced soon as well. It hasnāt been confirmed yet if this game is available on PSN (Iāll update this post as soon as I know). JP, US and EU versions of the game exist, although for now the exploit only works on the JP version (mostly because no hacker has worked on the US/EU versions yet, but thereās a good chance the exploit exists in those versions too, which we will of course investigate).
I will keep you updated as I get more news, if you can read Japanese you can follow the news on mamosukeās blog or j416ās blog. I am not directly involved with this port (which was entirely done by j416) so I havenāt personally tested it yet, but mamosuke and j416 have kindly kept me updated in the past weeks (thanks guys š ).
Iām extremely excited to see the results. Please keep in mind that HBL āonlyā allows you to play homebrews, so when the name of the game is released, please donāt buy it for an insane price if youāre expecting to play pirated games, or youāll be disappointed. Also be sure that Sony will patch this exploit soon after it is released, so I think people who are using HBL with the patapon exploit should keep using it. Upgrading to 6.31 for the ability of playing network games, or connecting to the PSN, will probably just last for a few days/weeks before the exploit gets patched.

Iām so stoked for this new version of HBL!!! I accidently upgraded to 6.31 so I missed out on the 6.20 version.

a HBL is a HBL, what it loads from doesnāt matter. Im guessing the HBL for 6.30 isnāt going to be as good as wololoās because there releasing so early
im just saying dose porting it to 6.3x make the syscalls wrk better or worse, is say dadealus r14 going to run at a higher fps just because its running from a different exploit?
Is the game on psn so I can use it on my go? I had to update it when I bought it to use it. I had one on 6.20 but it was stolen. š The worst part was losing hbl. Thanks for your work.

It has probably the same speed because the umd or patapon does only load the hbl, the hbl itself havenĀ“t changed

It clearly states that it is ported to use HBL. Theres only one Half-Byte-Loader. He can make his own, but then it would be called differentlyā¦

Iām gonna bet the instant this meets the light of day, weāre going to get even MORE complaints about ISOs/PSX eboots/lack of kernel access. Iām both amazed and appalled at how greedy and childish most of the people Iāve seen still floating around are. Maybe itās just because the PSP is more mainstream than other devices, but I dunno.
Also, I wonder how theyāre going to maintain the two seperate versions of HBL ā will the official build start to contain support quick enough, or are the 6.3x users going to have to stick to an old revision like 85?

yea I agree with you, most people are just wanting isoās so they can download all the game they want BUT some homebrew are isoās, still not a lot though. all Iv asked from wololo is a gb after he got that nes emulator to work

Very interesting stuff. Been at GDC Europe 2k10 w/ Hellcat and havenāt been paying too much attention and then I check up on things, and we got this and psjailbreak? Cool stuff! can you hack the earlier firmwares of psp for example 6.2 or 5.03 to show that they are higher than 6.3 and 6.31 then we can downgrade as an upgrade !
@Mahdi : IĀ“ll answer your question. No you canĀ“t do this. ItĀ“s because the Update of Sony has a signature.(ItĀ“s signed). If you would try to change something of the update, then the signature is broken. The update would be corrupted and you couldnĀ“t even start it. If we would know the signature, then we could directly install custom firmware, and wouldnĀ“t need your idea š
