PS4 10.00 and PS5 6.00 Firmware updates released, as always, avoid updating
Sony have released PS4 Firmware 10.00 and PS5 Firmware 6.00 a few hours ago.
PlayStation pushed PS5 Firmware 22.02-06.00.00 (PS5 6.00) and PS4 Firmware 10.00. These are updates with actual new features (most notably gamelist support on PS5!), but as always for people waiting for a Jailbreak on either console, we advise not updating.
PS5 firmware 6.00 & PS4 Firmware 10.00 – What’s new
PS5 – 22.02-06.00.00
- 1440p HDMI Video Output
- Gamelists
- Compare 3D Audio and Stereo Audio to choose the best for your system
- Easier Access to In-progress Activities
- New social features (request share screen, Joinable game notification, view new friend’s profile, send stickers and voice message in game base)
PS4 – 10.00
- While using the Internet Browser, you can now select between two types of zoom functions.
- It’s now easier to use the keyboard on your PC or Mac when using PS Remote Play.
With openings through the Blu-Ray exploits earlier this year I would urge anyone interested in hacking their console to at least postpone these updates if they can afford it. Recent jailbreak releases almost always happen for older firmwares, following disclosure to Sony. By upgrading to the latest firmware, you pretty much guarantee you will shoot yourself in the foot for a potential future Jailbreak reveal.
PS4 10.00 and PS5 6.00 – Should I update?
As always, if your goal is to jailbreak your console, you should simply not update. The recent history of PlayStation hacking tells us so: people who keep their console up to date do not get the Jailbreaks.
This is in particularly true for the PS4, a console which has proven countless times to be jailbreakable for people who are patient and stay on a lower firmware. I’d be more on the fence for the PS5, a current-gen console that has been out for several years now, with no Jailbreak released yet, and hackers being pretty pessimistic on the possibilities to actually hack it anytime soon.
In an ideal world, you would have 2 consoles: one that you keep on a low firmware for a Jailbreak (or buy a low firmware one if you can find one), and one that you keep up to date in order to play your current gen games and access PlayStation online services. I know it’s easier said than done, but that’s how things are.

First
damn, PS4 firmware finally reached double digits.
My name is Walter Hartwell White. I live at 308 Negra Arroyo Lane, Albuquerque, New Mexico, 87104. This is my confession. If you’re reading this, I’m probably dead– murdered by Sony CEO, Kenichiro Yoshida.
Jailbroken PS4 or new zooms on the browser? damn Sony is bringing the heat.
If I keep my ps4 to 9.0 jailbreak, will I be able to play god of war Ragnarok???
What is “jailbreak”? I’ve been a gamer since getting my very first console, an Atari 2600. But this is the 1st time I’ve ever heard the term jailbreak. Could someone please “dumb-it-down” & guve me a more simple answer? I’d appreciate it very much.
Hi Doc, typically gaming consoles are computers that are “locked down” so that you cannot install and run any software you please on it. For example you might want to create your own game for the PS4, but you wouldn’t be able to install or run it without going through some Sony-approved process. Jailbreaking consists in hacking the console so that it allows you to install and run whatever you want on the device, like a regular computer would.
Jailbreaking a console allows you to play illegally pirated games. If you buy your games legitimately, then you can ignore what this article is saying.
“I’d be more on the fence for the PS5, a current-gen console that has been out for several years now”
PS5 has been out less than two years. Not sure that constitutes “several”.
Good point… but historically, by that time, older consoles had been hacked, at least within “larger” groups of hackers, even if privately. Here it seems only a handful of folks have a full hack, and are very secretive about it.
[site removed] has 10.0 jailbreak is it true?
No
Waiting patiently but in my case it’s different. I managed to have my ps4 stay lower fw because I’m not really a ps4 player. I’m a pc player. I kept my lower fw ps4 in the shed. The moment I heard 9.00 is hackable I updated to 9 the run homebrew.
Ps4 should have ps Vita support as ps3 had support with the psp
Personally i think if anyone already subscribe to PS+ , no point to wait for jailbreak , since by doing so , you will miss the benefits of PS+
Just my 2cents
