Vita out in one month, are you getting one?

Sooo.. the PS Vita has been in beta test for a few months here in Japan, Sony has used the opportunity to fix some glitches with 3 firmware updates so far (1.50, 1.51 and 1.52), and it’s coming out in less than a month in the US and Europe. Are you getting one?

The Vita is without doubt the most promising mobile gaming device for 2012, and as usual, the game exclusives will probably be where the real fight is, in the war against smartphones and the 3DS. The Vita lineup for Japan wasn’t really exciting. I personally got Ridge Racer which is pure crap (more on that in another blog article, one of these days), but I know other people who got other games and weren’t impressed. Basically, it seems once you’re done with Uncharted, there’s nothing really standing out.

But the EU/US lineup seems to be more promising, with some games taking advantage of the console’s specific controls (in addition to Uncharted, which was already at JP launch): Little Deviants, Mod Nation Racers,…

Will that be enough to convince you? Or will you be stopped by Sony potentially spying on you, or by the price of the typical “everything is proprietary” Sony new hardware? For those of you who will get the Vita, it is still my plan to release HBL for it, assuming it doesn’t get patched by then.

    I won’t get one. There’re really too much cons right now: proprietary accesories, too few title games (besides the fact of quality), possible spying on you, problems with FW, etc. Too many restrictions at buying time. And all that must be added to the price in some countries: in Mexico, the price was almost doubled! The price of this little toy is comparable to the PS3′s… So my answer was: “Positive and definitely no”.
    In the other hand, the real war is with smartphones, as Nintendo reported strong losses in the last year operation: almost 500 million dollars, due to 3DS low sales. I guess the same results will apply to Sony the next year, seeing the PSVita sales tendency and Sony position about SOPA/PIPA/ACTA.

    ill be waiting till it gets homebrew, as I don’t want one unless it has homebrew support. If it gets a carrier unlocker, ill get 3G as I won’t use AT&T.

    For me its a race between 3ds and Vita. Im waiting for a hardware revision on the 3ds with the second analog stick. But on the other hand, im waiting for the vita to go down in price and gain a more expansive library. So which ever console hits the goal first, is gonna recieve my money.

      You can’t compare N3DS with Psvita. In my country, Vita coast $200 more than N3DS.

    I think I’ll get one, if Daedalus is working fine on the vita, 1. Playing Super Mario 64 on PS Vita, 2. Pure Epicness, 3. ????, 4. Profit !. That’s the plan.

    BTT:
    The startup games are very shitty in my opinion. Beside Uncharted and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom there’s no game that’s gonna blast my mind.

    Still waiting for awesome releases

    To state my comment in logic format,
    let p and q be propositions.
    p: I will buy a Vita
    q: I can put homebrew on a Vita

    p->q

    In other words, if p is true, then q must also be true.
