GC Lite 1.6 -Multi MS+Context+Folder cats for 6.xx

Post by codestation »

Game Categories Lite v1.6 - Codestation

This plugin is based and uses source code from Game Categories Revised v12 (GCR) and Game Categories Light v1.3 (GCL), both created by Bubbletune. Compatible with 6.20, 6.3x and 6.60 CFW.

I changed the name of the project (doing a fork in the process) to avoid confusion with GCL and GCR (the plugin is based heavily in GCL since it doesn't use a kernel/user approach).

You can configure the folder prefix (use CAT_ for folders or not), showing uncategorized content and change the category mode in system settings.

You can get the source code from https://github.com/codestation/gclite

Known issues:
  • >> Unknown if fixable:
  • Change of category in the PSPGo requires a VSH reset.
  • >> Unrelated to gclite:
  • ME doesn't merge the categories with the same name between /ISO and /PSP/GAME.
  • >> OFW limitation:
  • The Folder mode has a limitation of 30 characters for the combination of folder name + homebrew folder name,
e.g.: My Homebrews/AwesomeBigHomebrew is valid but My homebrews/AwesomeBigHomebrews isn't (i am not counting the "/").
Note: the japanese and other non-ascii characters are 2 bytes wide, e.g.: カラフル counts as 8 chars.

Once again, yes they do. CSOs work just fine for me using this plugin. What is your model, and fw? Do you have your CSOs in a subfolder in the ISO folder? If so did you add CAT_ to the file name?

Now there's a worthy cause. *thumbs up*

Tested it on PSP Go as requested. Enabled the plugin and disabled any other plugins. Rebooted.
Changed my game categories in /PSP/GAME/ to have a CAT_ prefix.
A number of "Corrupted data" entries appear.
PRO-B7 for 6.20 running.

Without some good logging is hard to tell how the Go reads those directories when the M2 is present :(, gonna prepare a good debug build.

@TheLiNkMan: is a "known" issue with Pro, in my tests ME and TN didn't have that lag in the XMB. Time for some bug hunting to fix that in the firmware itself.

P.D.: As i said before, someone knows a Pro version were this lag doesn't occur? This problem is a good example to test the open source nature of Pro and do a "hg bisect" of it.

I compressed a iso into cso and put it in ms0:/ISO/CAT_CSOs/, it showed properly under 6.39 Pro B7 and 6.39 ME-7. What firmware do you have?

@jvhellraiser, what do you mean? loading in the xmb or launching the game? if is the 2nd one then my plugin has nothing to do with it.
