Oh look, you did the exact opposite of this rule.

To answer your question: it depends on the PSP model. All 1K's and some 2K's can be unbricked, all 3K's and PSP Go's will be permanently bricked and will effectively become useless.

Bricked means the console won't even start. Usually it powers up, but nothing more.

The PSP looks for various things when it starts up. If these things are missing or don't have Sony's signature the PSP will be unable to actually get to the XMB. So all you see is a black screen, aka: brick.

Was the term "Brick" introduced because when a PSP gets "bricked", it's rectangle, thick, and doesnt do anything? :?: <just Curious>

It means pretty much what you said, but it wasn't introduced specifically for the PSP. The word and it's meaning have been around much longer than that I believe.
