[RELEASE] Julius Vita (Caesar 3) with improved controls

Post by rsn8887 » Sat Feb 16, 2019 2:00 pm

EDIT: UPDATED TO V2 with right analog stick mapping!

I made control enhancements to Julius Vita by devnoname120, and a pull request to devnoname120’s repo has been made. If you want to try it out, I uploaded a patched version, based on latest release 0.10 (updated to version 2):
https://mega.nz/#!pVxDlYoZ!pr3ZDLSPTZ4C ... 8DJ6AITRWU

Enhancements:
v2:
- Make analog mouse control a bit slower, it was too fast, making it too hard to move over the small icons
- Scroll the map with right analog stick
- Map L/R to mousebuttons and square/triangle to page up/down (instead of L/R to page up/down)

v1:
- Bluetooth keyboard and mouse support
- On-screen keyboard by pressing start, useful to enter player name etc.
- Analog joystick mouse control via left stick
- Touchpad-style mouse control with gestures (short tap for left click, etc.)

This is amazing! Can you also map the Arrow Keys to the right analog? Such a nice improvement the old controls where killing me.

Bravo, I like this setup and it's very playable now. I kinda suck at it though, I've watched like 10 videos and I'm still learning. For sure a game I want to master.

The shovel cursor is a bit off, is there any way to fix this or should I post it as a issue on the actual github?

Just a quick update:

The official Julius buildbot is now building Switch and Vita nightlies. They can be downloaded here: https://github.com/bvschaik/julius

(look in the table for "Unstable Builds").

VitaDB was also updated to offer a Julius Nightly build. It is updated once per day.

Several improvements have been made recently, already implemented in the latest buildbot builds: On Vita, I patched the video playback so it doesn't stutter anymore in the latest version. On Switch, I removed the audio lag. And several other enhancements have been made by the Julius team and devnoname120, too.

The instructions are here:
https://github.com/bvschaik/julius/blob ... RUNNING.md

You have to copy the files c3.eng etc. into ux0:/data/julius/ so that you have ux0:/data/julius/c3.eng and lots of other files and folders.
