List of games using analog controls for camera movement

Post by reprep »

@theflow0 found a way to remap analog camera movements of a psp game to vita's right analog stick. It is demonstrated in this video. https://twitter.com/theflow0/status/780481867149615104

The hack needs a spesific offset value to be found. Also the game should be aware of some kind of analog input for camera for the hack to be useful.

So hopefully with your additions, i will try to compile a list of psp games accepting analog input for camera control or aim. Candidates for these games are, games using L + analog stick of psp to move the camera (GTA LCS, Tomb Raider Legends) or games which camera control can be assigned to analog stick on psp via alternate control options (Resistance: Retribution). Or maybe it might be a PS2 port and some kind of analog input for controller might still be in the game etc.

Once more information about @theflow0's method is public, spesific offsets for these games can be found and we can enjoy true dual stick setup on Vita. Also it "might" be possible to do the same on a PSP Go + DS3 setup too in theory, but i can't say for sure.

EDIT: Yeah, it works on PSP Go + DS3 setup, you can get the first (and hopefully not the last) plugin here. It is for GTA LCS. viewtopic.php?f=28&t=47224&p=413652

Here is the list, waiting for contributions.

Coded Arms (Alternative control scheme where you can use analog stick for camera control)
GTA Liberty City Stories (L + Analog stick for camera control)
GUN: Showdown (Alternative control scheme where you can use analog stick for camera control)
Dissidia Final Fantasy & Dissidia Duodecim (Alternative control scheme where you can use analog for camera)
Medal of Honor Heroes (Alternative control scheme where you can use analog for camera control)
Medal of Honor Heroes 2 (Alternative control scheme where you can use analog for camera control)
Resistance: Retribution (Alternative control scheme where you can use analog for camera control)
Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror (Alternative control scheme with advanced mode, aim is left stick)
Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow (Alternative control scheme with advanced mode, aim is left stick)
Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Essentials (O + Analog stick for camera control)
Tomb Raider: Anniversary (Triangle + Analog stick for camera control)
Tomb Raider: Legend (L + Analog stick for camera control)

I need to confirm this (I'm not home right now), but here's some games that use 3D camera control:

- Dissidia Final Fantasy & Dissidia Duodecim;
- Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker;
- Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep;
- Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble;
- Pangya! Fantasy Golf.

I don't remember the control scheme exactly but some of these games use L/R + stick for camera control, while others use an alternative control, like Peace Walker.

Thanks for the reply, i am trying to find games where you can use the analog stick of psp for camera movement/aim. It might be directly analog stick (resistance's alternative control scheme) or a button combo plus analog stick (L + analog stick for GTA). Using L/R + stick for camera control is totally fine, which of the ones you posted are using it?

Ah, that's why I've said that I need to confirm it yet. I don't remember exactly the camera control scheme in those games.

Since I have some of those games installed on my PSP, I just need to boot it and test them, but I'm working right now. :?

Done, here's the camera control scheme of the games I've mentioned before:

- Dissidia Final Fantasy & Dissidia Duodecim: D-pad;
- Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep: L (rotate camera to the left)/R (rotate camera to the right);
- Persona 3 Portable: Same as above.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is a special case. It uses two specific universal control schemes:
- Shooter Type (Normal Mode): X, square, triangle and circle controls the camera;
(Aiming Mode): Same as above;
- Action Type (Normal Mode): D-pad controls the camera;
(Aiming Mode): Same as above.

I still need to check Kenka Bancho but I don't have it instaled. And since Pangya is a golf game, it doesn't need the second analog stick per se.

Realy? ... nobody mentions the game that needs it the most ?!?! :shock:

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Essentials

That would be awesome and finally make the game playable :D
It has a lot of control schemes ... like hold O to activate camera movement or have permanent camera mapping on the face buttons.
The game also has a shitload of unreal engine config files, I wouldn't be surprised if this can be activated natively in the game files.

I'm really surprised none of the emulators have gone into this before. You'd think someone would've messed with PPSSPP and gotten this to happen already.

Edit: Oh, PPSSPP already has for some games. Wonder if it works the in a similar way, then?
