Can't install homebrew? (TN-V 11 Ape Escape 3.50)

Post by walnut100 » Sun Apr 19, 2015 5:58 am

Hi,

So I've been with the scene since the Super Collapse exploit, installed quite a few VHBLs and TN-Vs in the past

Updated my main Vita to 3.50 for PSN access and decided to throw Ape Escape on it to play Japanese PSP games without swapping regions and some emulators

Everything went smoothly with installing the exploit, installed the 6.60 files (I usually clean out exploit files in case another one is never released so I don't have to reformat the whole card after an upgrade)

But for some reason I can't get homebrew to show up to install - it's been a while since I've done this so can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Have a INSTALL.ZIP Store compression with two folders inside, FTP and FILER6.6 . Each contain only the EBOOT.PBP file for the respective firmware; this is the same install zip I used on my PSTV on 3.36 with Arcade Darts (I think that was the game, I'm drinking so I apologize if that's incorrect, but regardless it's the same zip)

I have it inside the Ape Escape exploit folder although I've tried it in the TN-V folder, as its own Filer6.6 folder, and in a separate unrelated save file folder

No matter what I do it won't show up on my list

Am I doing something wrong here? Thanks

EDIT: And I probably shouldn't have done this but the scientist in me couldn't resist - I updated my other Vita (Which is a PSTV) in an attempt to transfer the already installed homebrews to my handheld Vita and after getting all setup the only thing that shows up are ISOs - very interesting

I'm guessing 3.5 broke the file structure somehow? I like to have Filer to keep my card clean and FTP to easily transfer files

I tried TN-V 11 on my 3.18 Vita and noticed it doesn't boot FBOOT.PBP files, it only boots EBOOT.PBP files. That is a big problem as i can rename the FBOOT.PBP files to EBOOT.PBP via the dot trick on 3.18 but it is patched on 3.50. I don't know the solution yet.

Having issues here too.. I put the INSTALL.ZIP (PSP/GAME/FTP/EBOOT.PBP) file in my TNV_54321 game save folder. Loaded TNV-11, installed the 6.60 files, boots to TNV just fine, but when trying to access the INSTALL.ZIP, I see garbled code, then it appears to lock up for a couple seconds, then reboots TNV.. Still monkeying around with my .zip files, we'll see..

as a quick alternative, you can always use homebrew in ISO format. There are lots of tools to convert homebrews to ISO files.

Same here, cannot install any homebrew and any ISO/CSO. It does not show in Game list in TN-V 11 XMB (Firmware 3.36)

Yes, my path is PSP/GAME/APP/EBOOT.PBP
Yes, my archive name is INSTALL.ZIP (all caps lock)
And yes, I'm copying my ZIP in UCUS986090000 folder.

Put the INSTALL.ZIP in ecfw folder of TNV not the gamesave folder. Though in the end, even if the homebrew installs it will show up as corrupted because of TN-V11's FBOOT.PBP problem. Use homebrew iso files to overcome this.

@reprep
You mean TNV_54321 folder? Just tried that and homebrew (PSPFiler) still doesn't show in XMB -> Game -> Memory Stick

I have no idea what I've done wrong...

Can this EBOOT to ISO be done with PSX games? I've attempted with one application to build an ISO out of it but it doesn't even show up in XMB (unless TN-V is looking for ISOs in it's own directory and not the Ape Escape save directory?) additionally I had to build the ISO as the application I used generated a PSP_GAME folder. Any application that auto builds the ISO and not just the structure of it? Thanks.

Follow this to install homebrew on tn-v11 viewtopic.php?f=56&t=42441

and no you cannot convert psx eboot.pbp files to iso. though you can still follow my guide for psx stuff. just treat them as homebrews and use the INSTALL.ZIP method.
