Help"Updating Psp"

Post by Zero-Virus »

Hello everyone, let me get to the point, i am coming back to play me psp 1000 with m33-6 , but i see that now all the games say that they support pro-c or pro-b so i want to update me psp to the pro-c so i can play all the games for the psp, but i have a few questions about this

1. i saw that i need to update me psp to firmware 6.60, and the question is, will i have any problem if a update to that firmware if a have the m33-6 install on the psp?

2.if the question 1 is yes, then what can i do?

3. i am afraid that me psp brick for updating from m33-6 to pro-c or for updating to firmware 6.60, so the question is how can i save or backup me psp from bricking if in any case the psp bricks?

thanks a lot and i am sorry for the horrible english i am not a native speaker jejeje

Well to be safe you could always make a pandora battery with HellCats Recovery Flasher(Plus backup the NAND).
Anywhoo I would usially suggest PRO-C2 but honestly ME is best these days.

While you can just install it over M33 I always install OFW first then the CFW just to be sure its a clean install.

EDIT: Oh and don't worry about all that perma patch nonsense since 1k PSP's don't need it, just install 6.60 ME-2.3 and be done with it.

No. The OFW installer is meant to only be used when your PSP is on...OFW. So you can either update to 6.60 OFW and use that installer. Or if you want to just jump from M33 to ME, run the "standard" installer.

Wrong. The OFW installer is just signed, thats it. Otherwise the OFW and CFW installer should be the same.

Ah ok. I seem to remember having issues when using the installer not intended for my CFW situation at the time, but w/e.

IMHO the way to go would be to update to 6.60 OFW then just run the OFW version of the ME installer.
Just don't forget to disable any and all plugins you might have as some will not be compatible with 6.60 and will cause the system to crash.

Half the time when I update or reinstall CFW, I use a pandora on it, and format the flashes after resizing them. I get my flash0 to a nice, even 52MB, which basically gives me as much extra room I want/need (for the most part for installing plugins there). This is just a side note. But honestly, using a pandora, imho, is the ideal way to install CFW.

Flash0 plugins are a bad habit from the old M33 days.

It is recommended to not use flash0 plugins on 6.xx CFWs, regardless of old PSP or new ones (new ones can brick via flash0 plugins).

Why should I be worried about a brick since I have a fully hackable PSP, multiple pandora batteries, a MMS, and a NAND backup? Fully hackable PSPs can be relatively easy to semi-brick (if you mess with flash). However they're very difficult to perma-brick. I've yet to hear from anybody that runs plugins from flash on 6.XX that they permabricked their console. Installing plugins to flash has so many benefits, and little risk...in my case...particularly considering my PSP mobo and everything I listed that I have to combat a brick. I'm not necessarily insisting that you're wrong, but please tell me how I am?
