2.61 Fieldrunners to 3.01 Numblast?
2.61 Fieldrunners to 3.01 Numblast?
Hi guys, are there any options left for going from 2.61 Fieldrunners to 3.01 Numblast? I'd like to upgrade to 3.01 for playing FFX/X2 Remastered and keep TN-V. I had used the Charles proxy method in the past to do upgrades less than current version and for access to PSN but sounds like those methods were recently blocked. I was also able to buy Numblast on PSN using my PC and add to my Vita download queue but realized that method didn't work if you are on 2.61. Any help? Otherwise I'll just wait for a new kxploit in the next year or so. Or hopefully a full vita hack!

the proxy method has been patched on all FW's,so that's a no-go. stick with fieldrunners.ambrosjb wrote:Hi guys, are there any options left for going from 2.61 Fieldrunners to 3.01 Numblast? What about ps3 transfer?
Re: 2.61 Fieldrunners to 3.01 Numblast?
You can always use a PS3 to transfer some exploit games (as long as they are listed as PS Vita compatible) and then update the firmware manually.

Re: 2.61 Fieldrunners to 3.01 Numblast?
Would a PS3 recognize a vita on 2.61 or 3.01? My ps3 is currently on CFW so would probably have to borrow my buddies retail one. I guess I could try and download it to the ps3 and try to transfer using 2.61. I would not update to 3.01 unless I knew 100% that it would let me transfer numblast. Traveling for work until tomorrow night so I'll try it in a day or two. Thanks everyone. The Z wrote:You can always use a PS3 to transfer some exploit games (as long as they are listed as PS Vita compatible) and then update the firmware manually.

As long as you follow the "OpenCMA + PS3" trick, yes, an OFW PS3 should recognize a lower FW PS Vita.

Re: 2.61 Fieldrunners to 3.01 Numblast?
I just wanted to give a full report back. I was 100% successful in going from 2.61 Fieldrunners to 3.01 Numblast using the Open CMA + PS3 trick. I actually think Numblast is a little faster loading than Fieldrunners since it doesn't have the "Minis" splash screen before loading. Now I can go out and buy FFX/X-2 for the Vita! For others out there, here's what I did:
On my PC:
- Logged into my PSN account online
- Purchased Numblast
On my PS3:
- Logged into my OFW 4.55 PS3 with the same account and added Numblast from the download list
- I kept Numblast as an installation "bubble". I'm not sure if this is necessary, but a few articles seemed to think it was
On my Vita:
- Logged into my 2.61 Fieldrunners Vita with TN-V8 and performed the "Open CMA + PS3 trick": viewtopic.php?f=64&t=36947
- Connected to my PS3 with my Vita and the USB cable
- Selected "Connect to PC" on the Vita
- Unplugged the USB wire from the PC only. Left it connected to the Vita. There was an error about losing connection or something like that
- Plugged my Vita into PS3 and on the Vita selected to copy content from my PS3 to my Vita. Numblast was in the PSP folder
- A few short minutes later Numblast was on my 2.61 Vita!
On my PC:
- I installed PS3.proxyserver and followed the "Dummy's guide to lower firmware" here: http://wololo.net/2013/04/17/lower-ps-v ... r-dummies/
- downloaded OFW 3.01 from zload (keep in mind his zip file has 3 different update files. I chose the largest one without an "pre" quotes at the end
- successfully used the proxy to go from 2.61 to 3.01
On my PC:
- Put the Numblast exploit folders in my PSP savedata folder that syncs to my Vita through Open CMA (I included 660.pbp but I don't think it was necessary, correct me if I'm wrong)
On my Vita:
- transferred the Numblast exploit savedata to my Vita.
- started Numblast holding down the R trigger, but it was not necessary. My vita booted up to TN-V with all files, games, homebrew, setting, etc. exactly the same as when using Fieldrunners.
- Lastly, just for clean up purposes, I deleted my Fieldrunners exploit savedata (2 of them)
Hope this helps someone out there.

Re: 2.61 Fieldrunners to 3.01 Numblast?
Is it possible transfer an exploit game to a psvita tv using the same method? how would it work without a usb connection?
Re: 2.61 Fieldrunners to 3.01 Numblast?
Unfortunately I do not have a ps vita tv so I don't know...

Yeah I recently pulled off the OpenCMA trick, and switched from KOP to Numblast for my TN-V exploit game, and like J Dilla, it has changed my life.ambrosjb wrote:I just wanted to give a full report back.
