Update for going from tn-v1,2,or 3 to TN-V4 2.02 to 2.12 from scratch:
***You need a PS3 to transfer games if you don't have them already***
1. Record all your installed games/software within your ecfw (not requied, just in case. Your data will carry over, plugins may be a different story)
2. Follow Firmware Upgrade instructions here: viewtopic.php?f=52&t=23013
***Updates not included in The Z's guide***
2a: If you install the current official CMA from Sony, it will still work
2b: Run batch files as administrator!!! With Microsoft's changes, this will solve most errors. If you forget, don't worry, just run it again as administrator and everything will work.
3. Transfer Exploited game from PS3 to Vita using OpenCMA, refrence guide below (number 3)
Arcade Darts for US: http://www.mediafire.com/download/q0iym
All the rest http://wololo.net/downloads/index.php/download/8104
*** updated From Wololo's front page****
4: downloads:
download 660.PBP http://wololo.net/downloads/index.php/download/947. (choose the PSP 1000/2000/3000 version, *not* the PSP Go version). Depending on the download links, if the file you download is named EBOOT.PBP, rename it into 660.PBP
Download TN-V4′s binary files http://wololo.net/downloads/index.php/download/7672
Download the TN-V4 Loader for your game http://wololo.net/downloads/index.php/download/8104. Choose the download that matches your game and region!
5. Preparation:
Extract the savedata from the TN-V4 loader of your game on your hard drive, in your CMA’s PSAVEDATA/xxxxx folder (where xxxx are a bunch of letters and numbers)...READ NEXT FEW LINES BEFORE COMPLETING
***It should look like this:
C:\Users\trebuin\Documents\PS Vita\PSAVEDATA\bunchoflettersandnumbers\NPUZ00097SLOT00\all folder files
not like my first try
C:\Users\trebuin\Documents\PS Vita\PSAVEDATA\again, bunch of letters and nubmers\ArcadeDarts_US\NPUZ00097SLOT00
if you see "corrupt file...you probably made my mistake.
***
Copy TN.BIN, FLASH0.TN, and 660.PBP in the game’s savedata folder (where you can find ‘H.BIN’)
Copy the game’s savedata to your Vita, using OpenCMA
6. Running TN-V4
Now run the exploit for the game (the trigger varies on the game. For 101-in-1 megamix, just loading the savedata should be enough {for Arcade darts, same}) and TN-V should start.
On the first boot, the recovery menu will appear automatically.
Select ‘Advanced ->’ menu and then select ‘Install 6.60 files’ (this step is only needed if you’ve never used TN-V4 before).
Enjoy the install progress.
After the install is done, go back and exit the recovery menu.
Enjoy TN’s awesome work.

This is a work in progress and directed as notes for me to remember every time I do something, so it may miss entire needed sections like restoring backup PSone games...I bought all mine on PSN. This will probably take months to clean up and I will be open to feedback as long as I receive it slow enough that I can process it. As this matures, I will clean it up and move it, but for now, it is here to start up.

Installing eCFW on a new Vita (setup with 2.02 firmware)
When I did this, I found it hard to find a good answer, I'm on 1.81, and the curren OFW is 2.06, can I install an eCFW? If you have access to a PS3, then definitly yes. Here's how:
1: Upgrade firmware to 2.02 using viewtopic.php?f=52&t=23013
2: Purchase UNO on your ps3 and download it...do not install it to your ps3
3: Quick Swap
-a: you have already modified CMA on step 1, so connect your vita to your computer
-b: Open "Content Manager" on your vita
-c: connect to your computer using content manager
-d: pull your vita from your computer and plug it into your powered on PS3
-e: "content manager" should have said it disconnected...use content manager to connect to your ps3...you should have done nothing with your ps3 as part of step 3 as of this time.
-f: transfer UNO game to your vita
-g: remove vita and open Uno, close it once you get to the main screen (back me up on this one guys)
-h: Connect your vita back to your computer
-i: Open "Content Manager" on your vita
-j: connect to your computer using content manager
-j: transfer prepared uno saved game to your vita from your computer using "content manager"
--prep instructions here: [http://wololo.net/downloads/index.php/download/7672}
-k: disconnect your vita from your computer
-l: open uno, load it completely until it crashes and follow the eCFW instructions from here
Note (notice requiring you to update your firmware): if you mess up somehow and your vita at any time says you have to update, don't worry, don't update, exit, and completely shut off your vita. Make sure you are not connected to the internet when you power off and when you power on. From here, reattach your vita to your computer with the modified CMA and you will be good to go. This problem can happen if you try to access the PSN or some other playstation features. As of now, you will not be able to access any PSN features unless you are running the current firmware, which will be rare. If you have a PS3, I wouldn't worry too much about this loss of capability.
Creating a new stick on a system with eCFW TN-V
When you create a new stick, things you have done previously can cause problems. I would say it would be easy if you create a fresh memory stick with nothing on it, but if you go to a larger one and want to carry over your files, this should help keep you clear of problems and errors.
1: Old memory card
-a: attach Vita to computer and open CMA
-b: backup exploited game (UNO, etc.) to your computer
-c: backup exploited saved game to your computer
2: New memory card
-a: verify you have the latest eCFW (or re-add) in your eCFW savegame ['\PS Vita\PSAVEDATA\XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX\', where 'XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX' is a bunch of random numbers and letters]. This needs to be the 6.60 EBOOT.PBP named 660.PBP as it will need to be reinstalled.
-b: Re-add any homebrew you want installed as they will need to be reinstalled or just VitaFTP homebrew to do that later.
-c: back out to \PS Vita\PSAVEDATA and you'll again see your \XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX folder and you may see other folders as well. This is where problems begin with transfers. Create a BACKUP folder on your desktop and MOVE all your other folder out of there. These folders are other games which have been installed to the old card. Your new card will only cause errors if you tranfer them as is.
-d: connect your vita back to CMA and transfer UNO to your vita
-e: transfer your exploited saved game to vita
2.5: Used Memory Card (all credit for this section goes to ambrosjb, Thanks!)
a) Make a complete system backup using Open CMA (just in case I also made separate backups of my Uno application, my Uno savedata and THEN even made a separate copy of my vita folder on my PC so nothing was changed without my knowing it.
b) Turned off Wi-Fi and put my vita in flight mode (both were probably over kill, but wanted to be sure) and disconnected the USB Cable
c) Turned the vita off completely. Swapped my 8gb card for the used card. When I restarted a screen came up telling me that the card was registered to "XXXXX" username, which I assume was the other guys name and told me that I needed to format the card. It game me two buttons: "cancel" or "format"
d) I hit "cancel", a screen popped up saying "rebuilding database" with a progress bar and in a few seconds and it brought me to my home screen and it was missing Uno, facebook, youtube, Netflix apps that I had installed previously. I then formatted the card in the system settings option per a suggestion from nCadeRegal. To be honest, I don't think I had to do this. I think I could have hit "format" on the first screen that popped up. This was suggested because nCadeRegal mentioned that he was asked to update the FW at this point. I never saw any prompt like that when I did it.
e) At first I was going to go the route of reinstalling the exploit the traditional way using Open CMA (per trebuin's guide), but instead chose to restore my full backup in Open CMA (per nCadeRegal). Lo and behold, a few short minutes later, all of my vita apps (Netflix, facebook, Uno, etc) AND all of my savedata AND all of my homebrew AND my trophies were properly returned to their place and I have my new 32gb card ready to go! I did not have to reinstall TN-V and then use Vita FTP. It all came back using the restore option in Open CMA. I have to be the first one to ever say this, but Open CMA worked awesome. It completely backed up and restored my regular Vita and exploit/homebrew data.
3: Vita setup & bug check
-a: Run the exploit game and hold the R trigger while the game is loading the exploited savedata.
-b: Once you are in the recovery menu, select: -> Advanced -> Install 6.60 files. As original OFW files are needed, this step has to be done. But ONLY ONE TIME.
-c: Exit the recovery menu and your PSP eCFW will start, set up all your settings
-d: Test for errors by going to your games folder. If it does not crash, you have bypassed one of the major problems you will see. If it does, double-check step 2.c
-e: go to vitaftp, use the triangle and install it. (you can delete the file after that)
6: Restore plugins
-a: edit your vsh.txt/games.txt/pops.txt to activate plugins
-- For enabled: 'ms0:/seplugins/XXXXXXXX.prx 1'
-- For disabled: 'ms0:/seplugins/XXXXXXXX.prx 0'
-- Where XXXXXXXX.prx is the name of the file.
-- cxmb has to be set to 'ms0:/cxmb/cxmb.prx 1'
-b: use vitaftp to create the folder ms0:/seplugins/
-c: transfer your plugins (*.prx) to that folder (except cxmb.prx if you are themeing)
7: For Themes
-a: edit vsh.txt so cxmb is set to 'ms0:/cxmb/cxmb.prx 1'
-b: use vitaftp to create the folder ms0:/seplugins/
-c: create a folder ms0:/cxmb/ amd transfer cxmb.prx to that folder
-d: create a folder ms0:/PSP/THEME (in caps) and copy your theme files (*.ctf) to that folder
8: Restore homebrew:
-a: transfer homebrew using CMA or vitaftp to your ms0:/psp/games
-b: install them using the triangle and install option (you can delete the file after that)
9: Restore backup ISO's
-a: use vitaftp to create the folder 'ms0:/ISO'
-b: transfer your ISO's to that folder
10: Restore official ISO's & PSone games using PS3 (quick swap)
-a: exit eCFW
-b: hook your vita to your computer and open "content manager" on vita
-c: connect to your computer in "content manager"
-d: unplug your vita from your computer and plug it into your running ps3 (I have found no timeout limit yet...just don't exit "content manager")
-e: in vita's "content manager," it should have errored due to the disconnect, connect to your ps3 in "content manager" and transfer all your software & any applicable saved games you have stored on the computer (not your exploited savedata)
Transferring Official Games & Saved Games (both official & unofficial) on an eCFW system
There are times that we want to transfer our saved games to either swap to another memory stick or simply play on a PS3, this is for you. If you are prepping a new card that does not have eCFW, please go to the guide "Creating a new stick on a system with eCFW TN-V"
Option 1: Vita -> Computer -> back to Vita
-a: Turn on your vita and do not log into the eCFW
-b: Hook your vita to your computer and open "content manager" on Vita
-c: Connect to your computer in "content manager"
-d: You can now transfer your vita's saved data to your computer, this includes any games that are only installed on eCFW
-e: Disconnect your Vita and swap your memory card
-f: repeat step a, b, & c
-g: you can now transfer your data back to your new memory card using the content manager
Option 2: PS3 (requires computer with open CMA)
-a: Turn on your PS3 and Vita
-b: Do not log your vita into the eCFW
-c: (Quickswap step 1) Hook your vita to your computer and open "content manager" on Vita
-d: (Quickswap step 2) Connect to your computer in "content manager"
-e: (Quickswap step 3) Unplug your vita from your computer and plug it into your running ps3 (I have found no timeout limit yet...just don't exit "content manager")
-f: (Quickswap step 4) In vita's "content manager," it should have errored due to the disconnect, connect to your ps3 in "content manager"
-g: You can now transfer your vita's saved data & games to your PS3, this includes any games that are only installed on eCFW
Upgrading eCFW TN-V
Option 1: Network Update
-a: Log into eCFW on your Vita
-b: Hit "select" and enter recovery menu and assure the updater is on and set to target TN-V's update
<<will add specifics>>
-c: Scroll left until you reach the "settings" root menu
-d: Scroll to the top item, which should be "Network Update" or possibly "Reboot PSP" and select (the Reboot will not reboot, it is Network Update incorrectly named)
-e: Download the update
-f: I have always selected install, but it always fails, select install anyways because I know it works this way.
-g: Go to your games menu in eCFW
-h: On the top, you should see the firmware updater...open this and the firmware will update
General FAQs
1. I have an eCFW installed already on an older firmware, should I update to a newer firmware and reinstall the eCFW?
--a: You already have a Vita that does not connect to the PSN and lacks several functions due to the requirement of having the latest firmware. If there is a current firmware that you can load an eCFW on, it will probably only last a couple days. SO ask yourself, is it worth having the added features of the new Vita firmware? It may include interface changes and/or allow a newer Vita game to run. I would only update if you answer yes to the section part of that question (game needs new firmware) and try to convince myself to not update for the first (interface change). Why not always be as close to the most current firmware? This is me, but we may discover an exploit that would allow us to fully customize the Vita's firmware down the road. The problem is that we may also discovered that Sony beat us to the punch and patched the required vulnerability. If you don't update, then you may be below that firmware and be able to utilize that exploit.
2. Castlevania X has SOTN within the game. It crashes every time I load it. Is there something set up wrong on eCFW?
--a: (as of TN-V3) Your eCFW is probably set up right. SOTN seems to call the PSX side of the OS and that is not working correctly yet, which is why it crashes. We may eventually see this work, but SOTN will not work until then. You would be better of buying it digitally and installing it on the Vita Firmware side to run the game.
3. Can I buy an official game one PSN and transfer it to my vita?
--a: Yes, but you need a PS3 to do so successfully. I think a second Vita would also be possible provided it was on the current firmware. You download the game on your PS3 and then transfer it using the guide above. Be aware that some games require newer firmware. There may or may not be a workaround to that problem, just ask.
4. I want to install eCFW, but the exploited game is no longer available on the PSN. What can I do?
--a: Wait. Sony pulls exploited games off when they hear there is an exploit almost the following day. They add the game back after the firmware is updated to patch the exploit. You'll need to follow the conditions in question #3 once it is available again.
5. Can I buy a Vita with older firmware and install eCFW on it? Will I be able to activate it?
--a: Yes, you can and yes, you can easily activate it. You will need a PSN account on either a PSP or PS3, enter your login information, don't update, keep the wifi off and it will activate.
6. If I'm on eCFW and a VHBL is released on a newer firmware, should I update?
--a: First, read question 1. Second, You lose the capability of running anything but homebrew on VHBL...no front end like TN-V. It's your choice.
7. I'm doing an upgrade to a new sony firmware, will I lose my games?
--a: everything under the ecfw will be inaccessible to include being able to delete. If you intend to remove the ecfw, delete all the files within first, then upgrade your FW. If you intend to update the exploit as well, your stuff will remain from TN-V1,2,3 going up to TN-V4.
