What is the port on top of the vita used for?

I wanted to bring this back up and see if there is still is no answer for this "accessory port" ? here is the info I've obtained so far...

It is actually for additional harware (Like with the PSPcam for the PSP), but which hardware exactly, isnt known, yet.
A lot of people expect a VIDEO-OUT feature, others think its for connecting the Vita with the PS4.

Hopefully they start developing stuff for the "Accessories" port before the PS4 comes out

Why's that? The two consoles are in the same generation and appeal to different audiences, handheld and home.

It's been over a year since the Vita's release in the west, and they haven't released a single accessory that uses that mystery port.
