Rogero 4.30 Upgrading Question

Post by hellokittyguy »

Hello I'm new to the scene and i just recently upgraded my ps3 to the Rogero 4.30 firmware. My question is when later firmware of Rogero or any other Custom Firmware comes out, Can i just upgrade from Rogero 4.30 to the newer firmware? Because after doing some research for some reason whenever you upgrade, it tells you to downgrade it back to CFW 3.55? Why? Wouldn't it be better to just upgrade from 4.30 to the later firmware for example 5.00 in the future.

The logic behind downgrading to a clean OFW is to make certain that there's no hiccups in the update. It's basically an extra safety measure. I tend to be a little on the reckless side so after getting done with staring computers at work all day (IT Specialist) when I got home I was like "...I...don't really feel like sorting this all out." and just upgraded straight from KMEAW to Rogero. Nothing went wrong with my update, but I'm hesitant to recommend something potentially harmful to someone else. I don't mind taking chances on my own gear, but I don't like telling someone else to do the same.

Ultimately the decision is up to you, but the safest option likely is downgrading first and upgrading clean.

It just cleans up all the files inside into fresh new firmware, correct me if I'm wrong. As perfectchaos said, it is an extra security measure to avoid any issues or worst case brick your PS3.

Cheers! Enjoy your new 4.30CFW! :)

I case somene come across this topic. Now, with Rogero v2.03, you don´t need to downgrade anymore. And you can even upgrade to it from any custom firmware via XMB (no need to enter recovery mode).
