Currently only the Coldboot CFW can utilize the dualboot functionality due the patches involved. Rebug will likely update their Rebug OtherOS++ cfw to have this functionality in the future.oam99 wrote:Can you kindly please tell us how to get OtherOS working on REBUG (from your tutorial) with the new Glevand's Coldboot CFW without SS patches?

Re: [Tutorial] How to Jailbreak/Install CFW on your PS3
This cannot be used with any other CFW.
Coldboot CFW is a CFW, meaning, it flashes your PS3's flash memory with a new firmware, meaning Rebug, or whatever other CFW you had installed will be gone.
Saying it can be installed over any CFW is simply a way of stating you do not need to flash back to OFW 3.55 beforehand. In the case of Rebug, I always doubt direct CFW swaps, and flash to OFW 3.55 before flashing whatever other one.
And of course, make 100% certain you are in Normal Mode, not Rebug Mode, before you flash a new firmware.
If this explanation is insufficient, then consider that ColdbootCFW is not a true dual-boot, as it loads Game-OS, the modified flash catches the process, and prompts for which OS to continue with. This would be impossible with Rebug installed, as it would load first.
Furthermore, it formats your HDD into 2 partitions, meaning any NOR memory PS3 would now have a broken firmware, as 240Mb of the firmware is stored on your HDD, with only 16Mb on your flash.
If you want Rebug with the new coldboot OS, you will need to wait for a modified Rebug OtherOS++ CFW

Re: [Tutorial] How to Jailbreak/Install CFW on your PS3
Maybe you could add stuff about cex2dex? Especially now that this has been released meaning the whole process can be done from Game OS.
Also, you should mention that after downgrading, you must dehash your PS3 before installing a regular CFW (i.e. any CFW other than E3 and Rogero), or OFW. When the PS3 is updated, the "syscon" values are updated. When it's downgraded again, they stay updated. OFW or regular CFW will brick with updated syscon values. E3 and Rogero are patched to skip the check. "Dehashing" restores the values to what they should be for 3.55. There are two ways; QA flagging or using Factory Service Mode to reinstall 3.55 twice. I don't know much more than that, but I'm sure a little googling should turn up something (if I remember tomorrow, I'll try and post some links). [here's one for now: http://www.ps3crunch.net/forum/threads/ ... #post45938 - QA flagging method I think]
Dehashing is also required I believe when going from dex2cex (but not cex2dex). In other words, when going to dex2cex, you must install either E3 or Rogero 3.55 CFW, and then dehash. [more info: http://www.ps3crunch.net/forum/threads/ ... #post46428] EDIT: Actually, it may not be possible to do dex2cex without bricking. Apparently you can't install a CEX PUP from the XMB after converting from dex2cex, and turning off the PS3 will prevent it turning on > possibly service mode can still be used, in which case installing E3/Rogero should be possible.
Just a few suggestions, feel free to ignore them

Re: [Tutorial] How to Jailbreak/Install CFW on your PS3
I tried downloading the 3.55 PS3 update from the first page but the file was removed.
Nevermind, I see it's working now.
