How do we beat Sony, before they pull the game?

VHBL (Vita Half Byte Loader) is an open source tool to load PSP homebrews on the Playstation Vita.
VHBL can be downloaded at http://wololo.net/wagic/vhbl

Yeah, personally I havn't spent a dollar on the PSN store yet.. however with news of an upcoming ninja release, I bought a 20$ PSN card a few weeks ago.. XD Got more sales out of me, at least! Also maybe it means I'll start playing my vita again too, meaning free advertising for everyone who sees me playing.. :P

Luck is really the only way to beat Sony. There is no way to release to a large number of people without Sony finding out. Technically, Sony could patch all these games if they wanted to waste the money and testing on it, but the benefit of VHBL is fairly limited, at least in its negative financial impact to Sony selling Vita and PSP games, so they presumably will only remove and/or patch games as the exploits are released.

I mean the entire Ninja release idea is only ever so slightly better than doing a surprise front page release, because it's entirely possible that Sony will be able to find out the game to pull before it is even released to the majority of people desiring it. But there is no way to prove that you or I are not a snitch or mole online, so what can really be done? Word of mouth doesn't work when your scene is small, online, and worldwide, and that's the only better way to minimize intrusion by (Sony) narcs ;p

Well I kept my fingers crossed, but I would be lying if I said that I was very surprised.

Might it be possible that this might push the community in the direction of working on a fix outside of the PSP emulator and that gets us closer to an actual custom firmware for the Vita? I am by no means trying to advocate straight piracy on the Vita, but it would be awesome to get the same or better functionality on the Vita that you can currently get on the PSP. It would also be cool to run SNES and N64 emulators that run at a great speed on the Vita. The hardware is obviously capable of this, so is there any chance that the 1.80 VHBL lockout might encourage members of the community to work on a solution that is more Vita specific? My guess is that in the short term, VHBL is still the focus, which is good, but long term it would be great to be able to run emulators and homebrews on the Vita that can fully take advantage of the Vita's hardware capabilities.

In reply to OP.

It would appear that Sony beat us (temporarily at least) prior to the game even being released.

anybody can help me here ?

i got only 64k internet connection, my "normal" way to download large game is using proxy method. it sucks i know, but at least i won't have to turn vita on hours to download 1 game or demo.

now for VHBL releases, usually Sony would take down the game hours after it announced to public (any info how fast usually they remove from PSN ?). obviously with my 64k connection, i won't be able to completely download it in time :(

here is my question : is Sony remove ALL references from PSN store INCLUDING the file in their server ?

so far my understanding of PSN download is like this:
We visit PSN Store -> choose a game/demo -> Vita processed the "license" -> Moved to Notification (with download progress) -> wait until finished -> Install when finished (dunno there's a check to confirm PSN again or not)

the longest part is when waiting download progress but as long as the file in their server isn't deleted, i still can join VHBL even after Sony removed it in PSN, because remove in PSN Store != remove the actual file in their server (ares/zeus playstation net etc etc)

anybody knows about this ?

i think they also removed from download list.
thats why many people complaining when their game is suddenly deleted by Sony (and they blame wololo for that)

24 hours still isn't enough for me :(
my only chance is they didn't delete the actual file AND PS Vita didn't check anything to install the file :(

thanks though for your info :)
