To Wololo | Android on PSVita

Postby AL13NCRY » Thu Jul 26, 2012 4:56 pm

Hey guys, hey wololo,

I saw the Droid X360 with android on it.
So many want to have android on their psvita, too.

So I may found a way.
I know that the developers at XDA are perfectly. They can port their android "hacks" to almost every mobile phone.
So why don´t just ask them if they want to port android over the psmstudio to the vita.

I hope you will ask them because you're the best :D and you know something about programming.
.

Hello, AL13NCRY.

I know you didn't address this message to me, but rather to Wololo, but since I dropped my mouse when I read your post due to a double facepaw, I just have to rant on it.
First of all, the Vita is in no way, sense or form a mobile phone, so your logic of "they can port it to any mobile phone so they can port it to the Vita" is fundamentally flawed based on your own statements. True, Android can be ported to many mobile devices, and it may be possible to port it to the Vita as well, but for now, due to the limited knowledge of this device and understanding of its security mechanisms, such a thing is impossible. After all, the Vita is a Sony PlayStation device, much like the PSP and PS3, which so far don't run Android, or any other completely different operating system.
I also have two questions burning a hole in my mind:
- Were it feasible to install Android on the Vita, why would people be bothering so much with PSP savegame exploits, which only offer limited user mode control of the device?
- Why does Wololo have to ask the devs at XDA? Surely you are able to register there as well and post this question, ne?

Yours,

Xian

PS: I took the liberty of moving this thread to /PSVita/General.

And to add onto what Xian said, PSM Studio is extremely limited in addition to being sandboxed and meant for managed code. It would be like saying "write Linux kernel in C# and have it boot on my iPad from within the confines of an App that runs atop a hypervisor with absolutely no access to hardware".

People seem to be reading too much into PSM. PSM is so extremely limited that it's not even worth using for developing anything other than simple board/2D physics games on or some small utility apps, and even then it's crappy due to all restrictions they put in place.

First AT all.
I'm sorry if it has hurted you when you read my thread.
I never said that the PSVita is something like a mobile phone.
I think no one cared back then at the PSP time about android. It wasn't developed so
much as today .
Because I don't understand so much about that programming, i asked here.
This should answer your second question. If they wanna know anything about Codes or
other theoretical things, I can't tell them because I don't know.
That's why I asked Wololo. Sure I can try, too.

So why you think so negative. We haven't tried, yet.
If it will work or not is their thing.
