Questions about installing a LCFW on my PSP 1001 (6.60).

Postby Account97 » Thu Jul 05, 2012 3:35 am

So just a few questions before I go ahead and attempt this:

First, regarding the possibility of bricking my system: I know it's supposed to be extremely minimal, but what I'm wondering is if that chance of bricking it occurs every time you load up the LCFW after installing it (through the Fast Recovery tool), or if that chance only occurs when you install it. As I understand it, running the Fast Recovery does something with the RAM, and installing does something with Flash memory. So it seems like it shouldn't be a problem, but I wanted to clarify.

Second, if that risk only occurs when you first install the CFW, should I maybe just use a HEN? It looks like a HEN only deals with the RAM, which seems like the absolute safest thing to mess with, and really, all I want to do is play emulators. On that note, are emulators in any way dangerous?

Thanks guys.

    1. since you have a 1k then why not use a full CFW ===> ME 1.8

    2. installing any CFW/LCFW these days has the same if not less risk the installing a OFW

    3. yes the "Fast Recovery" would not be able to brick anything since it only loads the files

    4. since you have a 1k why not make a Pandora Battery after you install a CFW?
(the "ME" firmware has a built in option to do it)
(just choose that option again and it would make it normal again)

EDIT: the "Pandora" option in ME is in

Code: Select all
Recovery Menu/Advance/Battery Config/

its the one that says "Jigkick"

Cool. I guess I just figured a LCFW would be safer (although, thinking about it, dunno why it would be), and for whatever reason I'd need to use the OFW, I'd have that option.

I know a Pandora battery can help fix a bricked PSP, but what are the advantages to making the existing battery into one? (I had though a Pandora battery was physically different somehow.)

EDIT: Actually, come to think of it, let's say I brick my PSP. If I have already converted my battery into a Pandora battery, I could ... unbrick it? So I would never have to ever worry about bricking my PSP?

(I am really new to all this, if it doesn't show already.)

For semi-bricks you can use Recovery Flasher which does not need a Pandora battery. For full bricks you would need a Pandora battery and a Magic Memory Stick. To make an MMS you can use PSP Tool and an OFW eboot for which ever CFW you'd use. I think the latest one you can make with PSP Tool is 5.00 M33-4. If you get a brick you can install that CFW with the Pandora battery.

to boot in to OFW mode just hold the "HOME" button when turning the PSP on

there is no advntage other then having one ready "just-in-case"
(also there the same as any other batt. just a diff serial number)

yep just as long as you have a MMS which can be made with a PC

PRO can also be made a "full" CFW but I agree, I prefer ME myself. ;)
PSP 1000 32GB PRO-HG Duo TA-082 6.60 CFW ME 1.8 and (L)CFW PRO-C fix3 + TM and DDC v8/v9 Mod
PSP 1000 8GB PRO-HG Duo TA-079 5.00 CFW M33-6 + Fix, TM and DDC v8/v9 Mod
PS Vita 32GB 3g + Wi-fi PCH-1103 2.02 OFW ARK eCFW
