Custom Web Browser

Postby garrei » Thu Jun 28, 2012 6:56 am

Ok, just like to know, is it possible to code a HTML5 web browser with PS Suite? I wouldnt want any fancy stuff, just for it to have the basic HTML5 features like video and audio playback. This isnt a request, I simply want help with a project im about to start where possibly instead of coding the whole app in C#, Just get A "small" amount of C# code to run my HTML (which I am good at). If there's someone that can help out please let me know :)

Hi,

You should take a look into the pss sdk. It's easy to figure that no, you can't make a browser. There is nothing to stream audio/video in the sdk...(*)

Regards,

Romain.

(*) impossible to make video / audio streaming system for now. But maybe only for *text*, you can make a browser.

I'm not sure about the PSS capabilities, but if you can render HTML with it (most likely it can't out of the box, but should be possible to implement), and if you can play audio (iirc, it has to be saved locally, so no easy streaming) and video (most likely has same limitations), it is possible to make a browser that works in a similar way to most mobile browsers like Opera mobile. What I mean is:
- PS Suite app connects to an Internet service and request a web page.
- Service gets web page, and transforms it in a way that the app can render, and send back. For audio/video, it has to provide the entire file for download to the app.
- App displays web page.

Yeah, that's true, this can be possible.. technically, but you should consider that the PSS programs have very limited memories capabilities (worst than a lowcost smartphone), but even a very low cpu power. Sadly it will be incredibly slow i think.

the last week, I have bought the samsung galaxy s2 and it's crazy i can even see the youtube videos in the browser, and more. It's a pity that the vita browser is bad..
