end of support in 2009, Sony also closed the websites, preventing people from accessing what had been created so far

removed in 2010

Acid_Snake wrote:- Psvita has pssuite

Which was only introduced 6 months after the console was out, is still in beta, and already promises restriction on anything that doesn't help them making money on it.
They're just doing this because they saw they are missing piles of money, after Apple and Google did it successfully for the past 5 years

Acid_Snake wrote:- Sony never patched Psp usermode signed homebrews, they didnt even patched it in the e1000

After patching every single usermode exploit within a week or so for the past 5 years
They only didn't patch this because they finally gave up on the psp

Seeing a trend here? Sony first closed any possibility at making homebrews in a way that would not bring profit to them. Maybe this was in preparation of the PS suite, or maybe it was too expensive for them to maintain, I don't know(but looking at the timeline, it still makes me laugh that people think Geohot's hack was the reason sony removed Linux support from the ps3...). They then bring it back in a way that will make them money (the PS Suite), realizing how apple and Google have been doing it right for years, and they took 5 years to realize they've been doing it wrong (a company dedicated to gaming, for f's sake!).

No wonder people are worried about Sony's health, when one of their only money-making section is one on which they made so many obvious business mistakes (I'm talking about the PS Suite being 5 years too late, not about removing linux support on their consoles)
I have a few US PSN codes to sell for a reasonable price (cheaper than pcgamesupply). PM me if interested, 1st come 1st serve basis..

it still makes me laugh that people think Geohot's hack was the reason sony removed Linux support from the ps3...

I know, they removed it from slimline models saying it was expensive to maintain, so the total removing was to be foretold
end of support in 2009, Sony also closed the websites, preventing people from accessing what had been created so far

I can understand the end of support (the console is old) but closing the websites is plain dumb
Support stopped in 2009, it is impossible to find development kits anymore

same as before, the console is next to it's end (if it isn't already)
realizing how apple and Google have been doing it

google is a perfect example, but apple isn't, their method is close to sony's one and they don't allow cydia, which is homebrew only.
