Do not use scripts if you want to learn (unless you write them yourself from scratch of course). And there's already a tutorial by wololo for basic savegame exploiting. Do a little search.

PS: video tutorials for exploiting, hacking and programming are most useless.

Try ruby 1.8 instead of 1.9 and see if that helps.
