Think-Tank: Converting EBOOT to PSVITA IMAGE

Think-Tank: Converting EBOOT to PSVITA IMAGE

Postby bubby323 » Mon Apr 30, 2012 8:30 pm

Granted I'm new to the PlayStation hacking scene, and the Vita scene as well (despite having one since launch), I find that there must be some way to convert the normal eboot (from the PlayStation Portable) to a Vita acceptable format, (psvita image extension).

The PlayStation 3 does this when a PlayStation Portable game is downloaded from PlayStation Network and then transferred to the Vita, via USB connection.

This being said there are an overwhelming amount of Vita users who don't have access to a PlayStation 3, I'm sure, but PSP games are still available for purchase and download via Media Go (in the pkg format). Afterwards they are stored on your local hard drive of the computer you downloaded them on, and the PKG can be decompiled into its uncompressed directories (including the EBOOT).

Please correct me if I am wrong, as I sometimes am more hopeful than what's possible, but wouldn't it be possible to figure out how to convert these into a format accessible to the PlayStation Vita via a program or a particular method in general?

This would ease the anger from those of us who are upset with Sony not having these games available for download directly through the store, or those who don't want to loose VHBL, but still play their classic PSP games.

(If this isn't the appropriated section please feel free to move it. Games might be a better section, but I'm posting it in General just to be safe.)

Even if there was a way to convert them, you couldn't play them without the .rif license files.

Sure, but that seems to be obtainable some way.

I am pretty sure they're specific to each account.

The package files are encrypted. Find a way to decrypt them, find out their exact structure, find out how to craft a license file and/or anything else that may be needed, find a way to repackage it, ???, profit with Vita-mode homebrews, I guess.

Some ways lead to bans too.

Moderator 80% corrupt. That's funny, I don't feel corrupt. In fact, I feel pretty good.

I'm not talking about pirated games, or games one hasn't bought specifically on their account, but original PSP games downloaded through Media Go.

Games I've purchased when I had a PSP but that aren't on the Vita store directly.

We've been able to decrypt PKG files for a while now, since the keys were leaked.

Oh, so you just want to transfer your bought games from media go to your vita as people do with ps3. Because downloading them onto your vita from your download history doesn't work. I don't think it's possible (as the vita isn't media go compatible). Maybe you could ask a friend with a ps3 help you out.

Right, I understand that Media Go isn't Vita compatible and that the same cause can be solved by simply using a PS3, but there has to be a way to load the games into the memory of the Vita, or recompile/convert the pkg or eboot into a standard Vita compatible package.

Wait, how does this solve anything? The games that are not available on the PSVita are the problem, and since games are signed and packaged for the system they are being used on, downloading using a PS3 is no better than using MediaGo.
