like i said before, I doubt that the necessary libraries are implemented yet. They must make it through FW update. My guess is that sony will make somehow money of it first, like they did with psp's digital content. It would be just funny to buy the same game a 3rd time.

Sadly I don't have any connections to Davee, it would be sure a very interesting experiment. Though I can't know how far kermit is developed by sony. Maybe they just implement only basic instructions to emulate PSP, thus making ps1-emulation impossible without fw-update,
I don't know but any serious (not gamefaqs, I lold enough  ) info would be really cool. For example from davee himself. I don't know what he even plans to do with his kernel exploit.

I totally agree with you on sony trying to ripoff more money from us

As for davee I saw on his twitter that he's gonna hack it further (no idea if he's ever gonna release it tho xD)

I wonder how humiliating would be if developers manages to run PS1 games on PSV before Sony

Interesting, but somehow sad.

I wanted to see that he makes his work closed source in a group. This would lead to much more benefits than doing it on his own. Hope its not again a ego thingie, which killed ps3 scene.
Whatever, time will tell, like always :D

back to the PS1 emulator, I'm going to again state that it's very unlikely that you'd ever WANT to emulate a fairly complex system (remember, to this day we don't have a single PS1 emu on PC that is 100% compatible) via an even more complex system (PSP, which probably argueably has some emulation issues itself hence why the limited amount of PSP games available)

Take into consideration too that many people have reported slowdowns and glitches in games that ARE out on the PSN, running an additional emulator through that would be far far from ideal.

Just remember the #1 rule of effective programming, KISS. Keep It Simple Stupid. The more complex you make a program (and an especially complicated program like an emulator) the more likely you are to have issues with it.

I did look at PS1 games on the PSV, but it is a lot of effort to pull through. For a start, it's an incomplete kernel and even borrowing modules from 6.60 doesn't work out very well. There are a few hardware dependencies missing and I'd rather do something more worthwhile with my time.
So, yeah. That's my part.

I'd be happy letting Sony write the PSX emu for us again. Was a happy surprise when Dark Alex (I wub u) announced what It really was and how nice and neat they packaged it for us. With the medium being the same I doubt pops 2.0 will be that much more difficult to fiddle into.

No point waiting effort on something being already worked on by Sony.

Thanks for that bit of info Davee. It does give a little more perspective.
