PS Vita Powerful enough to emulate PS2 games?

News, rumors, anything you want to discuss about Sony's latest portable console

and still sony are able to get psp games emulated on ps vita

I doubt that the psp emulation within the vita is completely realisized by software. So this argument is not valid.

I think Sony will not make PS2 games playable on their console for some time becausse they're still selling the PS2(last I checked, it sometimes beat the PSP on sales).

yes, they're marketing the ps2 very strongly in india. we have ps2, psp, ps3 and ps vita all available in the market, and the advertisements are mainly for ps2 and psp.

but maybe after 3-4 years sony can add an emulator to vita.

in the end as m0skit0 said, it's all upto sony. if they want to add an amulator they can and if they don't, there's no way we can have one, even if the vita gets ripped open like the psp.

yeah, but the newer ps3s are able to emulate ps2 as well as psp games via cobra usb(although i don't know how well that works), and ps3 is still much weaker than the high-end computers these days.

No. They can't. This isn't some ploy to keep making more money. It really just isn't possible.

Not very well in many cases. It works ok in the ps3 most of the time, but the ps3 is also wayyyyyyyy more powerful than the vita. And sony disabled the software emulator in the ps3 because it does not run all games acceptably. Sony is running a professional business here. They will not release a piece of crap emulator, no matter how much people want it. It doesn't really matter how much people want to be able to use it, even if they understand full well it won't run all games at full speed or without major bugs. Not everyone will be aware of that, and when they boot up their ps2 games on their ps3, and find out it's not even playable, they're going to be pissed at sony. The only way for sony to avoid looking like incompetent retards was to disable the software ps2 emulator in the ps3. It's unfortunate, but since the ps3 is not strong enough to run the emulator well, they really had no choice.

That's actually older PS3s, as it only works on models that had an emotion chip, or software emulation capabilities built in. As such, only CECHA, CECHB, CECHC and CECHE can use this dongle for PS2 ISOs.
(and I would actively encourage no-one to use such a dongle, as it is an insult to the PS3 scene to conceal homebrew information for profit.)

Actually it does work on the newer models, including slims. The ps3 has a full software ps2 emulator, it is simply disabled, so it cannot be used. With a cobra dongle, it can be. The problem is, as i mentioned before, it doesn't really work all that great.

i think what he means is that the software emulation was unlocked in them, unlike the newer fat and the slim models

But still, it doesn't have emotion engine, so how the software capabilities may help? Correct me if I'm wrong...

PS. Its "She" not "he".
